I think we should get him back,if he doesnt want a pay as you play deal just give him a 1 year contract, when fit he is one of the best left backs in the league.Get another left back and rotate the pair of them,he had problems last year as he was having to play too much when it is known he cant play more the 1 game a week.

I think you can play anyone at left back - I got loads of games there and I was shite, last position to be filled in any team. Fact!

Pay as you play takes care of the injured part and he's more than solid enough at left back. Ideal world we would probably walked away because of his injuries but we ain't in one so more than happy for this deal.

Doesn't he average 20 games a season? He knows he's fucked so wouldn't take the risk. He will get a full time contract in Brazil, or Spain, or Turkey. It makes great financial sense from our part - which is not something that can be said very often - which ultimately means its not true.

11 less league appearences than Joe Cole over the last 4 years, to be fair to the lad. Not gonna say he ain't more injury prone but if we can get a decent number of games from him it's gotta be worth it.
