Asked the wife did she want to go out for tea. I fancied a steak. No she said.

Indian ? Chinese?

No

Do you want me to cook us something nice I ask

No I’m not hungry and can’t be bothered she replies.

I just make my own dinner then I say.

Fine on you go.

Now after eating my spicy prawns I’m a selfish bastard and she is not speaking to me.

I’m full up and it was lovely. Do I care.

Yeah, but three times the recommended dose and you'll be lucky not to make yourself sick.

You can do serious liver damage with those things. I was on a regular 200 mg ibuprofen tablets for a week and also happened to have my blood drawn to check the levels of some things by another doctor at the same time. I got a call saying I needed to come in straight away as there might be a serious problem with my liver. Turned out it was just the ibuprofen, which is fine if it's short-term and not too big a dose, but apparently people who take it regularly or up the dose even in the short-term can do long-term damage.

"Women, can't live with them".Think that's how the saying goes.

My Dad used to say "Women - can't live with them, and you can't shoot them." I think I was about 18 when I learned that wasn't how the saying actually went.

Been saying all year we'll book a last minute holiday abroad as we had a bit of money coming to us in the last couple of months so could spend a little more. Clocked off for a fortnight yesterday and came home to get the ball rolling, looking for a week away with the kids. Only now she doesn't want to go abroad because she feels fat and wants to do a 'staycation' instead.

Imagine building yourself up for a week in a 4/5 star hotel in 37 degree heat and end up spending it in light drizzle and shopping in Tesco?

Can't she do a city break or are you not keen on that?

Fuck all wrong with a holiday in your own country.

True, but when you've been spending the last two months sorting out new passports for the kids and looking up 5 star hotels in Italy the pull of a holiday at home dwindles slightly.

I've suggested Munich and the English gardens for the kids to have a run around and they have a man made stream like thing which the locals surf on. I can sit off with a stein as well. She's thinking about it.

Yeah I've been in that stream, good fun but how old are your kids and are they good swimmers? It has a bit of a current to it
