I noticed Cheerful Harry, the chippy cockney and journalists' best mate, was up to his usual media tricks after the Wigan game. "2 points in 8 games can't be the manager's fault" he said - yet I notice that this particular Arthur Daley was quite happy to claim complete responsibility for the turnaround when he first came into the club...

Just shows you the madness of the transfer system in this country. Insua & Bale are both round about the same age, both promising and both may or may not make it.

Bale costs £10.1m from Southampton.

Insua signs on loan and then is made permanent in a swap for Paletta. Total cost £1.5m.

Yeah I heard that too, made me larf, as they say.

There's some players here who we've paid big money for and aren't living up to expectations.

Well if you park you most expensive summer signing on the bench, what do you expect.....

*checks team sheet from weekend game against Stoke*

I watched Bale in a couple of Wales games & he stuck out in both as a potentially fantastic player. Due to injuries , poor Spurs team & one assumes poor coaching , he has seemingly gone backwards , but if we could get him for the same money we could get back on the Dosser , I would be absolutely thrilled.

Buying off Spurs though....

Doesn't inspire confidence after Paul Stewart & Robbie Keane
