While I understand those who bullishly say this is only Luton, and we should be beating them regardless of who we put out - it still cant be denied that we are missing a lot of potency and creativity in that line up and bench tonight.

And Luton would seriously fancy their chances based on the team we have available. I'll take any sort of crappy win right now.

Robertson was always going to be rested and maybe a rusty Tsimikas with Quansah and no Alisson could be tricky. A million miles from ideal, though, all this.

Yeah no easy decisions at all.  I think if we get a goal or 2 in the first half then the side is there to shut the game out.  If we are chasing a goal with 20 to go it’s hard to see it happening.

Yeah, I don't think Klopp wants a rusty Tsmikas up against Ogbene who is their quickest player who causes fullbacks all sorts of problems.

I understand why the manager has gone for the safer, more secure option in Gomez there. Keep Robbo fresh for the final on Sunday.

9 games in next 30 days according to the BBC. Real kick in tbe teeth for what looked like a promising season

If, as seems prudent, we de-prioritise the Southampton game, there's over a week after the cup final until the Forest league game. We should have some back by then.

Why , are you just expecting Klopp to pull 3 seasoned professionals out of his back pocket like a magic trick , I'd have a day off mate it's getting tiresome

I'm not expecting him to pull anything out of his pocket at this stage, I'm just astonished at how thin we are.

We don't have a thin squad.

The only player who should have been swapped out is Thiago, as he's never fit.

We are missing

Alisson

Trent

Matip

Jones

Bajectic

Thiago

Szoboszlai

Jota

Salah

Nunez

Doak

11 players out injured from the squad, any team in Europe would be fucked

We don’t win tonight, we don’t win the league.

Nope.

If we don't win tonight, we have a third of the season left and everything still in our hands.

It's all academic, anyway. There's fuck all on the bench, but the starting XI is more than good enough.

That’s proper bare bones tonight. Fuck the performance. Just get the 3 points. A nervy, scrappy 1-nil will do.

On another note, the lad on our bench, Danns, I used to play footie (casual - jumpers for goalposts stuff) with his granddad in Sevvy Park. And his dad played with us once too. When he was about 10. And he was amazing. Just skinning older lads and blokes for fun. He made it as a relatively mid-level pro (Neil Danns - started with our youth team then played mainly in the Championship/lower leagues for the likes of Blackburn, Palace and Leicester and now Tranmere’s assistant manager) which goes to show just how shit hot you’ve got to be to make it in the very top leagues.

And, also could be one for the signs you’re getting older thread!
