Atalanta seem to be adopting a similar strategy to the one used against us. Blocking out the central areas and forcing Leverkusen to play longer balls than they’d like to. And making it a very scrappy game, constantly disrupting Leverkusen’s attempts to get a foothold on the game.

Gasperini has tactically schooled Xabi so far.

Maybe it's just me, but Italian teams (and Spanish) always beat pressing teams from other leagues. They just know how to break pressure.

An Italian kid at a decent amateur club will be spending several hours a week working on tactics. This shit is ingrained into your soul.

I used to play football against a lad who was briefly on the books at Ascoli (Serie B). He never made it professionally but eventually had a reasonable career playing some semi-professional stuff in Serie D.

He marks people a foot taller than himself out of our games. It's like magic to our naive British eyes.

Yeah, they’re doing what they did to us. It’s horrible to watch but it’s effective.

Well, apart from Lookman. Quality that.

This is the way to bounce back from a final disappointment.

Feels weird one sides league campaign is done and the other is still fighting for top 3/4 with 2 games to go.

Atalanta playing in 2 finals before their season is over.....proper weird.
