Yup. They have been pulling our pants down on the pitch for a few years so why not off the pitch too.

Yep, they’re not going to offload their best. Our recruitment team, meanwhile, will be looking at pointless footage of him from two years ago in the French league.

Absolutely nailed on to be leaving on a free transfer in his late 20s.

Amazing deductions going on here. Nobody at the club, the people who matter such as the manager and owners ever said we were signing him,and now due to some journo, we are not buying somebody who we never said we were buying anyway. Great stuff!

All of the approved journalists claimed simultaneously that we were out of the race. Which implies that we were at least previously in the race (as the same journalists had been reporting since last summer). That's ignoring the widely reported and occasionally obvious charm offensive that's been underway since his Birmingham days...

Pissed off but not surprised at the Bellingham news. If we somehow instead managed to nab Tchoumanei and Caicedo for similar money we would be almost sorted.

We'll probably end up with Mount and Nunes, with a 40 million net spend after we offload Kelleher and Phillips. It's how we roll.

If we really have pulled out, why on earth would we be briefing about it knowing full well how it would be reported and how it would be received by the fanbase? That would be stupid beyond belief. The club only briefs the press when it suits their own ends.

If we'd pulled out, there would be no need to say anything to anybody. Just let it play out and concentrate on getting other targets. Putting it out there that we can't afford him because we're shit now and need loads of players and won't be having CL money makes absolutely no sense at all unless it's part of a negotiating tactic.

I'm not buying it.

However, if the day comes when he signs elsewhere I'll be at the front of the line, pitchfork in hand.

You lost me at 'journos.' People whose job it is to constantly create headlines 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Being a Liverpool fan is like having a dad who's a bum. He puts the pools on and says he's going to pick you up in a Porsche on Monday, but it's your mum stood at the school gates with a saveaway and you go home to find him face down in a can of Skol and a pot noodle.

The ones who did it last night don't create headlines and they don't actually put too many stories out there at all. You're painting with a very broad brush there.

They posted the same thing at the same time. Pretty obvious it's the club putting it out there, as that's how it works.

Haha beautiful.

Jesus, FSG have the national media nearly talking about us like a solid midtable club regarding transfers "they're careful and don't tend to splash the cash without thinking it out" etc...like we're fucking loaded and one of the biggest clubs in the world, not Brentford. We could easily bring in four world class players this summer.

If we bring in Tchounemi and another high quality midfielder, I could accept that. Far from perfect, but by our expectations, a really good window.

These cunts are clever though... I'll give them that... A few days ago there was talk of Tchounemi and low and behold out of the race for Jude so the focus shifts to "If we can get Tchounemi and x players for the same money as a Jude"........

Could be just a case of getting the bad news out of the way early rather than it clouding rhe summer.

Could also be because he's off somewhere else and it's better to save face by pulling out than being publicly rejected.
