New Years Day V Burnley away

This is a good old-fashioned rainy slippery ale-house Sunday football match with jumpers for goalposts and two goalkeepers who aren't really doing very much because of all the slipping and sliding.

We're playing as well as you'd expect us to be playing without Salah, Coutinho as Firmino. Utter, utter shite.

I bet the likes of Chamberlain, Lallana, Mane, Wijaldum and even Lovren alone cost more than their whole team combined.

So whilst it's expected that bunch could create fuck all with Mane out of sorts, it just shows how much of a waste of money they're.

Mane is out of form. The rest of them simply aren't good enough to start regularly for a side with ambitions of winning stuff.

Quality lacking. Various factors.

Too many games in quick succession so level drops

Three excellent players out in Coutinho, Salah and Firmino

Burnley are tricky customers, very well organized

The weather conditions are horrible. Swirling wind and driving rain.

So, it’s very understandable why we are seeing what we are seeing.

I’d like to see Firmino come on second half and get close to Solanke so a partnership might conjure something up. (Is Firmino on the bench?)

Beyond that, keep knocking on the door and keep it tight at the back. On the first ha,f it looks more likely that we will do something sloppy to let them in, rather than actually forcing a goal ourselves.

The match is like an FA Cup tie from yesteryear.
