Transgender stuff - what's going on?

Our neighbour two doors down is a Transvestite. Nice enough girl, she cried when the missus and myself talked to her in the park, most people don't even register the fact she's a human being, cunts. One of our other neighbours lent over the garden fence and started the usual piss take about her, so I said "She's better looking than you love." Took the cow a whole month to talk to me again, not that i wanted her to talk to me mind.

Like others have said, it affects my life in no way whatsoever, so people should be allowed to do what they want as long as it isn't illegal. It is their body, and I'm sure the majority of those who have gone through painful procedures both mentally and physical did not do so on a whim.

Transvestites are quest different from Transgender or Transexuals, yeah? Insofar as they occasionally dress the the opposite sex. Eddie Izzard, like.

I would agree except with the bit in bold. The law doesn't reflect modern issues like this and gay marriage. I'd say "do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt other people".

Started reading this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-41224146

Then went onto this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-38761068

I need advice on how to process this.

Is transgender a thing? Is it totally a synthetic idea made by gay people who want to change the way they look?

It seems at odds with so much of nature for it to be a natural thing?

Being gay is different, I get that, but wanting to change your gender just seems like 'gay plus', more a fetish-based request than a genuine 'mistake' made by 'God' that needs rectifying.

And then there are people with 'fluid gender'. I'm veering towards the 'this is bollocks' side of the fence, but open to listen and have my mind changed.

This dude had a good thing going, his missus was hot: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-38761068

Then he decides he's not a he, and turns into a she. The girlfriend, being a total catch, agrees to lesbian sex with him.

Why couldn't he just remain a bloke and go out with the girl? He just wanted tits and a fanny and to put make-up on without prejudice or, perhaps was it shame? Dunno, but for me, he broke the rules and went 'gay plus'. And that's fine....but I'm just not convinced it's an affliction that he needed to rectify and then make public.

Amazing.

True, but I should have said she is a transgender as she has had hormone treatment for breasts, not sure if she has a a knob or not, not the thing you ask about.

I think so. Chelsea Manning  got some stick for changing his gender (sex?) as I recall from the trans advocates, since he became a she, instead of being "trans". It's often difficult to keep up.

It must be incredibly stressful to be in a position where you don't identify with your gender, I can't even begin to imagine.

It takes a hell of a lot of strength and bravery to stay true to yourself in an ignorant culture where bullying and ridicule is rife, and where there is practically no support structure. They are trailblazers and should be commended, in my view.

Sections of society can be distrustful and scornful towards anything 'different', but the transgender community is just made up of humans, like the rest of us. Humans that struggle every day with their identity and often their existence. My heart goes out to these people, and I sincerely hope they can all find some way to be at peace with themselves.

10/10 for the trolling, Funnneeeeee.

Yeah, I'm also cool with that. A nice person is a nice person, regardless of sexual orientation.

How can a 6 year old have gender issues? 6 year olds don't really have gender-related thoughts at all. If my 7 year old told me he thinks he should have been born a girl then I'm chalking that down to him having more fun playing with girls, what I'm not doing is thinking he's trapped inside the body of a male and is actually a girl.

I don't care what people do, but I'm definitely not donating to a telethon for this.

This evokes memories of the time you started a thread saying people with depression just needed to get over it.

Didn't happen.

There's elements of it that can be treated with CBT, which is altering your actions to change your thoughts, but a lot of chemical to blame, hence SSRI's to improve uptake of serotonin.

But...go to Germany to get signed off for depression and stress/anxiety and they prescribe exercise before they reach for the drugs.

That is not entirely true. Plus, according to the theory, we all have gender issues, as gender is a construct thrust on us. Or is it sex?

You may have a point on this. Being open to the idea but not making any permanent decisions seems the best option.

One of the wife's friends has a little girl aged 7 who steadfastly refuses to be a little girl. She has a boys haircut, closest she gets to a skirt is shorts and she only has 'boys' toys. They are just doing all they can to make her happy and not making a big deal of it.

Stop chatting shit, it all depends on the severity of depression and which doctor you go to see. Plus no, I'm not speaking from personal experiences but have helped a few people out who were suffering from depression over here, my daughter is also studying psychology.

If we all have gender issues then why would you be happy jumping from one side of the fence to the other? The issue is surely around not wanting to feel 'trapped' in one gender. Isn't that just good old bisexuality?

What kid, at age 6, is being denied a thought or feeling based on their gender or need to be a gender?

Maybe we should just follow the EU Withdrawal Bill tonight.

No. You get two weeks at a spa. I saw it on a Michael Moore film so it must be true.

But I've got a friend who is a German-born GP?

Obviously severity plays a part, but often depressive states grow over time, you don't ordinarily wake one day severely depressed. Some accidents can make radical changes overnight, though often it's PTSD and not depression that needs to be treated first.
