Danny Ings scores for Burnley

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings.

The 22-year-old will, subject to a medical, move to Anfield on July 1, following the expiry of his Clarets contract. Compensation is yet to be decided between the two clubs, with a transfer fee to be set by a tribunal.

He will become the Reds’ second signing of the summer, following the capture of James Milner from Manchester City.

Ings scored 11 goals for Burnley in his maiden Premier League campaign, and will leave Turf Moor having netted 43 times in 130 appearances.

He is currently away with England at the European U21 Championships in the Czech Republic, but will join up with his new teammates at Melwood next month.

His signing, together with that of Milner, shows Liverpool's willingness to get their business done early this summer, and they are eager to add to their squad further in the coming weeks.

They remain keen on securing a deal for Southampton full back Nathaniel Clyne, and retain an interest in Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke. Adam Bogdan, the Bolton goalkeeper, is also being targeted as a back-up to first-choice Simon Mignolet.

A strike rate of 1 in 3? This is going to go well.

We're got going to sign any top players without CL or top wages. We all should know that.

However, where are the Hyypia's ? Players we've never heard of that are quality. Other teams / managers find them. Sevilla, Southampton, etc.

Who was are last one pulled from obscurity to become a success ? Arbeloa ?

We specialise in paying top dollar for mediocrity. Is Jack Warner our secret head scout.

Relax, Jose Fonte is preparing to travel to Merseyside as we speak.

Alas he will NOT be bringing the Southampton DMs with him..

As someone on one of the football podcasts said (think it was TheGame) we might as well fire all of our scouts. Just get a small child to write down a few players that look decent on MOTD.

We used to joke that it was just some spod with a copy of Fantasy manager, but now I'm thinking it might not even be that advanced.

I envisage a big door somewhere marked "Transfer Think Tank", behind which sits Garth Crooks thumbing a Panini sticker album.

Schneiderlin can come with him. They can have old Dejan back.

Barcelona are signing Vidal from Sevilla, one year after playing for Almeira at the same time as Suso.  We had an agreement with Genk of some sort and then manage to somehow miss out on Courtois, Benteke and De Bruyne while securing the best talents from accross Hungary. I know its easy with hindsight, but, if your stealing a living as ascout at this club, i expect  some foresight too

What the actual fuck? Benteke, Bogdan and Clyne? Is this a dream, have we not learned a thing? It's better to sign nobody than these 3.. Even the "capturing" of Ings is funny if we don't sign a proper stiker as well.. Can please somebody help our transfer comittee or is that too much to ask? It was known with Lovren, with Lallana we can all see it with Benteke. Please no.. We should look in the mould of Dzeko, Higuain, Benzema, Jackson Martinez.. Even Falcao I think he's not finished yet.

I haven't the words to fully explain how much contempt I have for the transfer committee, because it reflects the aspirations of the club and the manager in terms of how we want to play football.

I do see some logic in some of the signings being mentioned. And I don't mind an Ings, or a Bogdan, I really don't. But at some point you have to supplement those sort of signings with sparkle.

I don't know what our deal is, but over the last four years we've only dabbled with a club outside of Europe once for a transfer, and that was Nacional for Coates.

16 times in four years, that's 8 transfer windows, have we got signing from outside of the UK.

Leverkusen - (Can, Yesil)

Benfica - (Markovic)

Lille - (Origi)

Sevilla - (Moreno, Luis Alberto)

Milan - (Balotelli)

Celta - (Aspas)

Sporting - (Texieira)

PSG - (Sakho)

Roma - (Borini, Doni)

Herenveen - (Assaidi)

Inter - (Coutinho)

Nacional - (Coates)

Ajax - (Suarez)

Meanwhile, in this country, we've done the following business

Southampton - (Lovren, Lallana, Lambert)

Sunderland - (Henderson, Mignolet)

Man City - (Milner, Bellamy, Kolo Toure)

Swansea - (Allen)

Chelsea - (Sturridge)

Blackpool - (Adam)

Villa - (Downing)

Newcastle - (Carroll)

£160m/£170m on that bottom list. And all the City signings were free.

Sends shivers up my spine reading that list and coming to Downing and Carroll. The guts of 55Million for the pair. shocking waste of funds that.

You only need to get to Southampton to see a disgusting waste of money not far off that on shit.

Barring them and Sturridge all the rest signed from mid-table/relegation shite and we wonder why we are where we are.

Origi, ings, lambert, borini, mario - if you add up the fees and wages we would be better off paying the money for as good as we can get on 250 a week with a 50-60 mill transfer fee

That's the major flaw in our transfer strategy, we've far too flat a structure. We need to accept that we can't have half a dozen players on £250k but rather just one or two. Go with a smaller higher quality squad padded out with free agents and youth team. Focus on the league.

Time and again we go for quantity over quality with the hope that our manager can coach them to greatness, not that our managers coaching skills are considered to be all that by FSG at the moment.

We should be looking to get rid of Balotelli and Borini as a nice Italian partnership package deal. They would be perfectly suited to a mid table Italian side. Balotelli standing on the 6 yard line while Borini does all his running.

The only way either will go us on loan. No one will pay our fee. And they won't go to just anyone.

They are both grade A shits. Balotelliis a lazy spoilt brat and Borini has no ambition, he should be wanting to play every week. Does he think Juventus are going to Crome knocking. Soft cunt.

My point being, we've only dipped into the South American market once in the last four years.

We've only dipped into the German market twice, once for a youth player.

We've dipped into France twice, Spain twice, Holland twice, Italy thrice.

Meanwhile, in South America (queue clips of overhead kicks, mascherano's and Messi's).

I bet all our scouts wear fucking flat-caps and use buses to get to games.

That is borderline criminal.
