Oldham Athletic have decided against signing convicted rapist Ched Evans following threats to the club's "staff and their families". A club director told BBC sports editor Dan Roan that a staff member was informed a named relative would be raped if the deal went

That's an interesting tack for the anti-rape campaigners to take

We hate rape we do, can't stand it. Your sick for allowing a filthy dirty rapist to join our club. I'm so mad that you'd allow one of those rapists, yeah!? to play for our club, right!? I'm going to rape your entire family. Thats right i'm going to rape your wife, your kids and your dog as well if you let that rapist join our club.

He's currently serving his time on licence - it's continuation of the prison sentence but in the community.

It must be possible for him to sign for a club though as some have tried.

Should his talent for football and his possible income be wasted because of one mistake he did or did not do?

I don't see the point personally, it's very unlikely he would be caught up in something like that again especially if he is in the public eye as a footballer.

The only argument I have seen is he is supposed to be a role model, anyone who would be influenced to do something because of his alleged offence is crazy and will do something regardless.

No doubt Evans should be punished if he did commit the offence and has been but killers are out there getting an easier ride then him.

Possibly, but the argument that he has served his sentence and therefore is rehabilitated is bollocks. He hadn't even shown a glimpse of concern for others until today.

He's not actually fully served his sentence though. He's still serving it.

He's not yet a 'free' man, he's just serving some of his sentence outside of prison.

As I said yesterday, when Plymouth's club captain is a guy who killed two children and left their dad with life changing injuries as a result of a drink driving accident, I think it's both amazing and disgraceful that Evans isn't being allowed to continue his career.  Sense of fucking perspectve required.
