I don't live too far from there these days.  Obviously its still remembered here and the NCB will never be forgiven.  I recall a quote from a witness at the coroners court when a guy said the children were .."Murdered by the National Coal Board"

I lived not far from there for a few years. The graveyard in aberfan is one eerie place. The row upon row of children's headstones is a heartbreaking sight which never leaves you.

 

I always put the large support of Liverpool FC in the 60s 70s 80s down to Shanks and Bob coming from mining villages with socialist roots ( though i may be wrong).

 

I suppose its telling that apparently its only the merseyside and south wales areas that the sun is not the best selling daily paper. It was not a place for conservatives in them days, i don't think they've ever elected a tory MP.
