We had 6 weeks to try sell him and there is no way we would have been stuck with him, a loan deal could have been arranged with 20 clubs in the morning.

That's not exactly a fair argument since there are many players (quality) where one club does not rate them or it simply doesn't work out for him there anymore. Then he moves to another club and he takes his career and the club forward.

As for Reina, perhaps there is some kind of agreement between the club and player, whereas Pepe goes on loan this season and then gets his wish to join Barcelona next season. Maybe that's why we've loaned him out and not sold him. Who knows? Just a thought like.
