He played for us for a short time, when he was past his best sadly. You could see that he was obviously a good player but our timing didn't really sync up. Still, he's well placed to do us a solid. As a former defender he can tell the Southampton board that he really likes Sakho, and £30M plus Sakho is a good deal for all parties, in exchange for VVD.

Jairzinho has nailed it above.  We've been buying mediocre squad players for decades and doing all of the above for a long time.  We should never be buying a player which we are already thinking about

They sacked Puel partly because his style of football was boring and then they get someone even more conservative. If he gets them results so be it, but it's a weird move. Pretty outside the box.

 

Thank goodness they sack the twat, we didnt beat them once while he was in charge, 2 league games and two LC ties.
