He wasn't the worst midfielder out there tonight and completely unfair to lay into him on tonight's game.

That said, everyone knows his limitations by now. He's a championship player getting games for Liverpool. That's not his fault.

If the players in the squad with more skill than him, gave as much effort as Jay, we'd be laughing.

He’s coming home!

Apparently we’re following the trend of signing an old pro to play with the Under 23 squad to give them some on field mentoring and coaching.

Who knows, if There is a crisis maybe he’ll get a run out with the first team.

I'm still not convinced on us having a team in the EFL Trophy, but if we're going to it makes perfect sense for us to be signing someone like Spearing as an overage player.

It helps him get coaching experience, and as one of the other coaches mentioned he's played in all 4 divisions, so he'll have a bit of nous against these lower league teams.

They've lowered the age of the PL2 teams from u-23 to u-21 now, but you're allowed more overage outfield players too, so it makes more sense for that too.

I saw him on LFCTV a while go and assumed that he lives in somewhere like Zanzibar these days, so wrinkled and nut-brown was his litttle face. I fear his first day back will end when one of the kids shouts 'BUNDLE!' and they all jump on top of him. Anyway, he seems a decent lad, so good luck to him.
