Who can we trust batsmen wise? Root, Stokes?  Wicketkeeper wise Foakes should get a run, spinner, give Parkinson a go and use Root as he is as good as any off spinner we have. Pace bowling is ok when people are fit. The batting is a joke and reminds of the bad old days, is Tavare still available/alive?

Hundred for Cook on the first day of the Championship. Hildreth got 87 as well. Not arsed that they're both 37, get them in the test side.

Always made me laugh when you had idiots criticising his captaincy who also wanted him dropped from the team.

We’ve only had one fucking opener since Strauss retired and you had people wanting Cook dropped too.

He’s too old. I remember when people wanted KP dropped because Strauss couldn’t Captain him.

Yeah, he wasn't a great captain. The curse of England for some reason thinking making the best batsman the captain is a good idea. However, the idea of dropping him was ridiculous especially considering the other options.

Judging by the rest of the English openers Cook will still be good enough when he's about 45.

Saw Bracey got runs today as well.

Always made me laugh when KP was ostracized for the crime of the century, telling the Saffers where to bowl at Strauss. Fuck me, if I knew where he had become vulnerable, I'm sure they did.

I was one of them.

I didn’t want him dropped because he was difficult to manage. I wanted him dropped because he was a cunt and deliberately tried to help the opposition at his own teams expense.

That was spun massively.  He was a winner and we couldn’t handle it.  ECB treated him like shit, even spelling his name wrong on trophies.

I don’t for a second doubt there were massive cunts on both sides. You just have to look at the ECB ever since.

But Kev could have very easily killed the allegation by providing his phone and messages, he refused to.

Any other sport and no one would ever accept that.

I’d have told them to fuck off too.  Either trust him or don’t.  He still had 3 years left at the top and could have scored another few thousand runs across all formats.  Too many old posh farts.  I fucking hate Strauss.  He’s an insipid yes man.

They didn’t trust him, they knew what he’d done and fucked him off for it.

He knew the accusation, knew they had been told about it and could have ended it there and then. He chose not to.

No arguments from me about Strauss. Decent batsman though he was.
