Anyone noticed just how erm... shit everyone is ?

5 years ago you had Liverpool, Arsenal, filth, Chelsea, Barca, Munich all capable of beating each other, even the Dutch had a couple of decent teams. Last nights shower however, was a sad indictment of just how poor top level European football is at the moment.

So, what happened and when will it change?

Arsenal came second in their group behind Shakthar, and get routinely embarrassed by Barca.

Milan are no great shakes, but dominated at White Hart Lane and were arguably unlucky to go out. No need to expand upon Madrid versus Spurs.

United scraped passed Marseille, who had several gilt edged chances at Old Trafford. Were very comfortable against the domestic competition of Chelsea.

So on the basis of the English sides' performances against European opposition, that's an absolute myth.

There is just not much talent around, outside Real Madrid & Barca I can't see much, if any, world class players around.

The talent is there but at clubs that are not in the CL. Hazard, Sanchez, Mata, Tevez, Toure, Balotelli, Llorente, Neymar, Pastore etc (not to forget eye catching players at Dortmund and Porto) could have been playing for any of the top clubs but they aren't. Maybe the coming transfer window could sort it out.

Its because some of the biggest names in Europe are struggling right now. Ourselves, Juventus and Bayern Munich have all had poor league campaigns. In fact all of the top Italian teams aren't the force they were, to the point where the German league has now overtaken the Italian league, so there will only be 3 Italian clubs in the Champions League next season.

Barca, Madrid and the English teams look as though they will dominate Europe for a long long time.

everyone????

jesus fucking christ. The current Barcelona team are quite possibly the best club team of all time. The current Real Madrid team are the most expensive assembled of all time, had they not been drawn against each other in the SF it will have been the CL final.

Both clubs have raised the bar massively. English clubs have declined in quality in recent years, Italian teams more so. Inter last season was a fluke.

IMO Spain & Germany have the two best leagues

Yep, and thats ace. In fact my local team, Hannover 96, may already edge out Bayern for the third CL spot this season which would be sheer insanity. So for me its far from hurrendous. Turrific, more like.

although not directly effecting the competition now I'm not a fan of this seeding thing at the qualifying stages where all the teams from the shit countries get to play each other to give them a chance of qualifying as it in turn reduces the quality of sides in the competition with the decent teams having to play each other

if you want it to be fair scrap all seeding with random draws from the start!
