To be fair they have rallied, unlike Leeds and Leicester. Out of the last 12 games they've won or drawn 8. They've only lost 4.

As soon as they gave Lampard the bullet they had a fighting chance.

12 points from 12 games. Just enough to achieve safety. Sad really.

I suppose the haves are further from the have-nots now. In the first premier league 92/93, Palace were relegated on 49 points, albeit in a 42 game season. The Mancs won the league with 84 points. That would be 76 points in todays money.

Villa were the main opposition to United, similar to Arsenal's opposition to City this year, and finished 2nd on 74 points, winning only half of their games. In a 38 game season, that would equate to finishing 2nd on 67 points and a team being relegated on 44 points and 3rd-19th finishing between them. Mad.

Leicester at home to West Ham for the final match of the season.

How West Ham approach it will be interesting. It's an awkward 10 days before their cup final, so while they'll want their players having a run in a competitive game, the focus will be on managing player loads and not risking any players with a niggle.

These being their 56th and 57th matches respectively, it's a significant factor, with the 56th effectively being a glorified training run ahead of the 57th being the biggest match for the club in decades.

A draw wouldn't be a disaster for either Newcastle or Leicester tonight, so will either play to win or be more conservative and secure a crucial point?

Sounds like they might be sold according to ssn. Gone into a period of exclusivity with a NY based hedgefund.

I can already hear the premier league now..."we would have given Everton a points reduction for cheating but that was the PREVIOUS owners so it would be unfair to punish the new ones"

Just like FFP didn't apply to Chelsea when they were sold

Leicester are really fucking bad sadly. Can't see anything other than them losing by about 5

Sounds like it’s not a sale just an expensive loan secured by a chunk of shares. Probably just a way to finance completion of the stadium.

Aye, looking at that BBC report. I'm not sure what someone needs a period of exclusivity for when it's just a glorified pay day loan. They don't even want an equity stake, which suggests they wouldn't pass any fit and proper owners test. Interesting the head of the fund is another Iranian.

It's the perfect chance for Davey Moyes to show that you don't have to be manager of Everton to be a winner for Everton's manager.

Leeds can deffo beat spurs and then even a draw wouldn't save the shite. This could still happen.

If leeds win and shite drew but leicester didn't win then it would be enough to keep shite up - unless leeds win was by 3 or more.

A draw would not be enough for the shite though if leicester win.
