Spirit Of Shankly: Meeting with NESV Representatives

POST THE ARTICLE

Spirit Of Shankly, the Liverpool Supporters Union, accepted an invitation to today meet with NESV representatives John W Henry and Tom Werner.

It was an informal meeting, to allow us to discuss with them the issues we as a Union deal with, and the issues supporters have faced in the past three years. The meeting gave us encouragement that we as supporters will be listened to, and that the new owners recognise the task ahead.

Supporters have worked tirelessly to ensure our concerns are listened to, and that our voice is heard. John W Henry himself said "If it wasn't for yourselves and supporters doing what you have, we wouldn't be here now." It is important that supporters are recognised and we hope that this is the beginning of an ongoing, positive relationship, that allows us all - supporters, players, manager, the board and the owners - to be pulling in the same direction that allows our football club to succeed and prosper on and off the pitch. We look forward to future dialogue.

Nevermind, not worth it

Can we pull in a different direction to the manager, please?

what did you want? Henry to offer them 51% of the club? its a start, he's opening discussions with fans, thats a good thing

I think it is great that they are listening to the fans, I am very optimistic about the owners.

I just don't see why we needed another thread telling us nothing we didn't already know.

Do Kop Faithful get an invite John?

I should hope they do after the work they've put in.

He obviously can't speak to everyone but he'd benefit from getting as many different views as he can.

It's encouraging that he's opened dialogue with supporters already. Long may it continue, a monthly fans forum would be something I'd like to see.

Everyone of us wore "Bring Rafa Back t shirts".

See, it still isn't funny.

Nice one, Graham.

Any more info regarding meeting: length, venue? Was it minuted / informal?

Did he smoke a cigar? Was his wife there?

The meeting was in Chapel Street with Werner and Henry both there.

Pretty informal and very much them listening to our introduction of the Union and its aims and objectives.

I suspect the next meeting (hopefully if arranged) will be more important as they will presumably have got their feet under the table and will have some ideas about what they plan to do and how.
