I can state, categorically, that this item is fake, no matter what spin was put on it by the person who sold it.

 

As mentioned earlier, a COA really is meaningless - it is simply window dressing that is used to add to the con. A COA does not make a fake item real - as is the case here. Nor, should it be pointed out, does the lack of a COA make a genuine item fake.

 

For those who are either casual memorabilia buyers and don't know what to look for / who to trust or what to do if you have bought a fake, we have an eBay forum of over 1300 members (collectors / dealers and the odd visit from a former player or two) that specialises in Reds memorabilia - most have been stung at some point by fakers... very few are anoraks, mainly people like Edward's Friend's dad who buy something in good faith, a one off piece that they think is genuine but is just tat.

 

At this time of year you'll likely find between 50-60 squad signed Liverpool shirts a day on eBay - anyone who has actually tried to get a shirt signed themselves will realise just how close to impossible it is to get the full squad done, even over a period of months, yet these sellers will have the same shirt up 3 times a week (usually with a squad signed Manc, Chelsea and Arsenal shirt to keep it company... the second it is sold, another one magically appears.

 

Trade in fake signed Liverpool shirts was around £100,000 a month in the final quarter of last year, with the top sellers pocketing £5-6,000 a month each. (These figures were researched by members of the group for a documentary for BBC TV that we featured on last year).

 

A squad signed shirt will take most dealers 6-8 months to complete unless he gets lucky. Stevie, Jamie and Dirk are increasingly difficult to get to sign shirts and very rarely sign without dedications - more so now that Jamie is promoting memorabilia via his 23 Foundation.

 

I can't post a link to the eBay forum, but if you search for user 96reds_2006 and view items, there's a link in every listing to the group.

 

The group has raised over £3,000 for the Hillsborough Family Support Group recently and will soon be handing over a similar amount to Jamie's 23 Foundation.

With a heavy heart, I'm going to admit that I agree. With the way that some new posters have been treated on here recently, Dave might as well close the forum to new registrations. To be honest, if I'd had the degree of being "beaten in" that seems to be the norm now, I doubt if I'd have bothered coming back after my first post four years ago.

I think my contribution stretches to a bit more than that but anyway, bravo with the sob story, I'm really sorry that we can't all live in your ideal world were everybody holds hands around the camp fire and we all get our along because we support the same team. The fact of the matter is, people have different opinions and at the moment our club is going to fucking ruin, it's in as bad a state as it ever has been, the owners, the manger, the squad, the results, the finances. You have basically said that because a forum member has started a thread saying "calm down" that the forum is in disrepute and there are serious issues that need addressing well, A lot of people are not happy to just accept that people thing things will improve without big changes so yes tempers are being lost and arguments are happening. If this is exclusive to TLW I'll be shell shocked as the fans of our club are decidedly split at what the future should be for us and the manager. I promise I was not looking for a sob story when I mentioned my age, I simply did it to expose how pathetic other people can treat new members, not once have I shown aggression, bar the last few posts, I wanted one simple thing and that was a bit of help. Like I said when I first mentioned my age, a sympathy card is not what I was looking for because as everybody can clearly see I have the balls to stick up for myself against ass holes. I will not continue this pathetic internet fighting anymore, it is a waste of my time and at the end of the day nothing is being resolved between Ezekiel and myself. It took quite a bit of abuse but I eventually got help from the other members of this forum so thanks a lot to those who did help me identify my kit.

 

Before I leave I will say one thing, and it is by no means an attempt to refuel the fire or start up another fight.
