Excellent book by the way, get it.
Second that, an excellent book. As is Beevor's book on the fall of Berlin. While the author covers the big picture well, he also looks at the impact of the conflict from the perspective of the individuals involved.

I've started dropping hints early for Christmas for his recent book on D-Day, in which he debunks a few myths about the invasion and its importance in the greater scheme of things and also gives credit (long overdue) to the role of British and Canadian troops. He also mentions the large numbers of French civilians who were killed by Allied bombing and shelling, whom history seems to have forgotten.
