Actually the new system is quite good. The new seeding system means there will be a little easier to qualify for league champions from the smaller nations.

As an aside, found this site with the 2009/10 uefa coefficients and what they mean to the group seedings

 

Champions League Seedings 2009/10

 

It means the top seeds would be

 

Barca

Liverpool

Chelsea

Mancs

AC Milan

Sevilla

Bayern

 

and one of Arsenal, Lyon or Inter (depending on the qualifying round). Real will be in pot 2 whatever. If Arsenal get through, given Real can't play in Sevilla or Barca's group, then there's a 66% chance of Real ending up in an English group. Should be interesting!
