Right, can of worms time.

Please take a look at this website. There are some questionable calls but overall it gives a relatively accurate view of transfer spending.

Rafa has been backed, and backed well (As have all our managers) .That he decides to buy poorly, or buy in bulk is his decision.

Transfer League

Exactly.

With the money he has spent, I would have expected our squad to be far stronger than it is.

We've been over this countless times, so I guess there's no point in taking it further.

I really don't see how anyone can doubt our financial inferiority though.

Its pretty obvious that we were spending more of our income as a percentage on transfers than some and that we have been sliding financially speaking since the start of the premiership due to bad management from the manager of the team up to whatever gombeen has been CEO/Chairman/Owner.

Its also pretty obvious that we have been very very far from paupers. Its just that we've had several managers who buy 2 shit players instead of one good one.

I would also concede that Arsenal, United and Chelsea spend more on wages according to some other report I have seen used.

No matter how much a player costs or how high profile they are each player gets treated the same by Rafa. This has its positives and negatives depending on the view you want to take but i perceive it as quite fair and consistent. I remember in the past people used to say that Alonso was Rafas favourite, well when he thought he was surplus to requirements their was no extra loyalty handed out also Hyppia as well.

I just can't buy into Rafa has personal issues with Keane or any player although i think if Cisse had stayed any longer Rafa would have exploded on the touchline, the reason he gets subbed is attacking players get subbed more frequently by Rafa and in general by all managers, see Babel Bennyoun.

I actually think Rafa likes players to have a bit of fire in their belly he likes the passion that players like Keane and the Chief and Carra and show in my view. You only need to read what Carra said about the argies in the Valencia dressing room and his alleged subtle hints to Carra.

I think the reason Kuyt stays on is he has got quite a few late goals for us in the past in the last 15 mins of a game. However it's not Kuyt keeping him out of the team at present unless Robbie wants to play on the right;) although who knows what his good mate Jamie would make of it. Also we all know Keane and Jamie Rednapp are good pals and yet Arry and his media pals are coming out saying all sorts in the media, stinks in my opinion.

Rafael Benítez sold 55 players for £92,075,000

Net Spend = £97,791,000

Annual Spend = £19,558,200

There are other factors to take into account such as wages but I don't have those figures.

You said yourself, very suspect figures !

Lucas 9m Torres 26m, Nani and Andersen 13.5 and 15m !

Most people quote 6, 21, 18 and 18, thats 8 less spent by us and 8 more buy them in just those 4 transfers.

You also got to take into account, were talking Rafas record on spending here and 14m was spent on Cisse, who was Geds buy.

Thats 22m less and 8m for for them in those right there, a difference of 30m.

Also the fact it has a page devoted to Rafa and since he's been here stinks of agenda agenda agenda.

Lucas way out. Others may be a bit out too, everything is undisclosed these days. Cisse was bought in that season, he started the same year as Rafa. Swings and roundabouts.

All I'm saying is this, our spending is roughly on a par with United. It may be a bit higher, it may be a it lower.

Ferguson bought in approx 14/16 players while Rafa bought something like 55. They spent the same money. Its clear both have very different ideas on how to build a squad.

That's not swings and roundabouts, that's swings and swings.

Lucas is £3m out, the two United signings are £4.5m out too, so they are more 'way out'.

This is not to mention the fact that Ferguson at United has been steadily adding to a good team/squad for years, not trying to build his own team/squad at a new club.

Looks its been done to death. I have no inclination to do it again. Even if you factor in all those changes there is very little in it. I'd even contend there wasn't much between our squad's, which has also been done to death.

We had a decent enough base when Rafa arrived, we had a solid back four, as good if not better than what we have now, a young StevieG and a great player in Hamman. We also were about to lose the outstanding Owen, not Rafa's fault.

We were short on the wings and in creativity. 55 signings and an awful lot of money later we are still short in those areas. Its not about having a go at Rafa, I just don't accept that Rafa has been completely hamstrung financially. He hasn't. Its a bullshit excuse anyway, but pulling it up for not beating, or even having a go against the likes Stoke and Hull is disingenuous.
