If he walked on the bus then I can't see it being any longer than 2-3 months at most. He'll be missed becuase he's a top defender but we have as good as replacement as you could possibly wish for. Any further imjuries to Agger and Carra though could make things a little tricky in Europe.

You can walk, I drove home after my ACL went. But you wouldnt be able to run and if you did you'd risk damaging one of the other ligaments/Cartlige around the knee, plus you hamstrings as they all work together to steady yo when you walk/run.

Luckily, the centre of defence (along with the centre of midfield) is an area we can take a hit to without it affecting us too badly.

Skrtel's been impressive though, he was ahead of Agger and Hyppia on merit so far this season.

People are making too much of his defensive lapses - barring the comedy flying kick yesterday, he's been solid as a rock for me.

Times Online

Martin Skrtel, the Liverpool defender, is likely to miss the remainder of the season after scans revealed he has damaged his cruciate knee ligament.

The 23-year-old Slovakia international was given oxygen and left the field on a stretcher during Liverpool's 3-2 win over Manchester City after he fell awkwardly on the edge of his own penalty area.

Skrtel, who was signed by Rafael Benitez in January from Zenit St Petersburg, has forged a solid partnership with Jamie Carragher at the heart of a Liverpool defence which has conceded only four goals in seven Barclays Premier League matches this season.

"Martin underwent a scan this morning which showed damage to the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee," a Liverpool official said.

"He will see a specialist tomorrow to assess the extent of the injury and will then have an accurate idea of the timescales involved before he is back playing again."

Hmmmm, not so good an opinion....

From the offal.

Martin Skrtel will discover in the next 24 hours how long he will be out of action after a scan revealed posterior cruciate ligament damage in his right knee.

The Slovakian defender was stretchered off during Sunday's 3-2 victory at Manchester City after falling awkwardly on the edge of his own penalty area.

"Martin underwent a scan this morning which showed damage to the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.

"He will see a specialist tomorrow to assess the extent of the injury and will then have an accurate idea of the timescales involved before he is back playing again."

gutted for him, one of rafas best ever signings.

Already a crucial player for us:(.

googled for some info and its 5 months until u can run in a straight line, out for the season i reckon even if he is ready with a few weeks left of the season i couldnt see rafa risking him, prefering to have him ready for 09/10 season.

Totally gutted, I was just hoping it wouldn't be too serious aswell. We've already had guesses between the rest of the season though and six weeks, so I'm still gonna hope it's not too long. And now we have to get Agger back and used to playing for us, I just hope we don't drop any points while he finds his form.

Cannot believe we have to wait ANOTHER fucking day until we know how bad this actually is aswell, unreal.

carra and agger need to reamin injury or we are in big trouble in regards to the CL.

I'm not too worried about it. We won our first two games, so only have to win another two from four to qualify. Even if we got an injury to Carra or Agger, I'd be confident enough that Arbeloa could do a job in the CL until Sami came back for the knockouts.

It's funny (weird, not haha) how he's only picked up a serious injury since featuring on the TLW banner. It's like when players who were on the cover of PES all got injured.

when a player throws his arm up the second he hits the ground you know its serious, its like when drogba went down, he does it all the time but this time he throw his arm straight up and you're like 'okay, maybe he's not crying wolf this time.'

No, Drogba does that EVERY time he hits the deck. He did nothing differently to what he always does, except his girly scream may have been bit more high pitched this time due to him being genuinely hurt.
