Hard to judge because Boro were playing through the middle, where we were badly out of sorts. Whenever he had the ball he used it well and I don't think he gave it away once to be fair.

I dont think he is availible for us at all and I disagree about him being the way forward completely, but thats a matter of opinion and for me Downing does not tick any of the boxes.

I'd be made up. I realise the minority want him here, but he has something about him.

 

I've compared him to Kewell in his Leeds days before. The way he moves with the ball at his feet, skips past defenders without too much fuss and the way he whips in crosses with pace. I'm not saying he's world class (yet), but he's a much better all round footballer than the likes of Dirk and Benayoun and he'd be the only one in the squad able to create genuine width.

 

I don't understand why people complain about his lack of pace either. He's just as fast as i.e Kewell was before the injuries.
