No it was more along the lines of being from oriental descent and having had people be racist towards me, im not racist.

Probably should have added that.

 

I hate people who are racists, no need for it whatsoever.

 

That doesn't make any difference. If anything it makes people racist as they begin to hate the country of the people who are abusing them.

I think there's some truth in that. I reckon psychologically it's only natural to make sweeping judgements about people who you identify as being 'the same'. I've no proof of this of course, but I'd imagine it's the same with animals, a wildeebeast that's never seen a lion - upon seeing one eat one of his mates - will make the decision that all Lions are dangerous and therefore need to be avoided at all costs.

 

Also. we're programmed to socialise in an effort to further our own chances of survival, and we've probably learned over the years that an 'exterior threat' is an important ingrediant in building strong communities and support networks, whether that exterior factor be a shortage of crops, environmental dangers or a rival group.

 

I've oftend struggled with the first point on this thread, for example when I've been to Spain 'i've only ever been to 'touristy' places where the locals build up a bit of an 'attitude' when it comes to English people, after being exposed to this backlash on several occasions (buying something in a shop and having it literally thrown at me without so much as a 'gracias' for example) i've made judgements in the past that spanish people are actually rude cunts - one can overcome this with a bit of logic, but I still maintain our brains are designed to find a sense of identifyable threat in people and make the dcision that 'okay, him him and her were all like that, so he will be as well.'

 

These are just my toilet musings mind.

Not really mate as racism doesnt affect me, I can rise above it (without trying to sound all high and mighty), I dont get why people are racist. However knowing people close to me who have been affected by racism, I see first hand what sort of damage it does to people. Thats why Im not racist. And because I believe its wrong. People should embrace the multi cultural society of today as its been extremely beneficial.

For some reason I don't find Black or Oriental women attractive. I've pondered if this makes me a little racist, but I decided it didn't. Not fancying men doesn't make one a homophobe.

A lad I went to school with was of oriental descent (and still is, funnily enough!) and one day he was giving it loads about black people. One of the lads in the class piped up. "Ay! How come you're being so racist when you're an ethnic minority yourself?"

 

Quick as a flash he replied "Aye, but I'm not a n*g, I'm a chong!"

Along the lines of the thread...I'm not racist, but I dated a girl who was once. She used to say some ridiculous things about minorities, especially those of Asian Heritage.
