Thank you for your invaluable input, I'll be sure to remember this next time I stroll through the mean streets of Widnes

Widnes was a pit-stop.

Don’t worry Zeb, you don’t reflect MK at all. You’re cool.

Yeah but being the coolest person in MK is like being the best looking girl in Widnes even though you’ve got 14 fingers and 5 nipples.

Widnes is good because it’s like you’ve been to Recall.

Is Barclay dead? I haven’t heard anything about him for ages. Last I remember he was slumming it at the Standard.

No, he got the boot from the times soon after that night. Started tweeting shit vaguely about walls collapsing and other shit about Liverpool fans forgetting that a few above him at the time were scouser and got the boot. Then started slumming it at shitty newspapers, podcasts etc

My brother, his wife and my two nieces went to London at the weekend. They’ve done an annual trip the last few years, always trying to do something educational with the girls. It appears London has become even more of a rip-off than usual.

The girls were desperate to go to Portabello Market and one of the stalls tired to charge one of the girls £8 for a bog standard plastic hair band.

They went in two places to get a drink and snack and were quoted £40 for four drinks in one and £80 for four drinks and a snack in another. They said most places had taken down their price lists so they could charge whatever they liked.

Then the place where they were staying took three times the cost of the accommodation out of their bank.

They are on a tight budget anyway and luckily the family had given them money to help with the trip, but they are still waiting for the money to be put back into their account. They came home a day early and had to do another budget to tide them over until the money goes back into their bank (which they’ve been told is anything up to seven days). Also tried to do them out of the free breakfasts for the kids which were part of the package.

If the money isn’t in within the seven days I’m going to small claims these cunts into next year.

It's definitely been creeping up down here price wise over the past couple of years.

Hotels for example I'm paying the best part of £300/350 for a weekend when my ma comes down, nothing too fancy.

Restaurants are a paticular bugbear. It used to be easy, casual dining £40/50 for two with a drink or two, decent place and a bottle of wine £80/90, 1* £130. Now it's £60/70 casual, £130 for a decent place and the best part of £200 for 1* dining. We went to a Sushi place a while back that was £150 a head without service or drinks and this is becoming more 'normal'.

Don't get me started on pubs as £7/8 a pint is normal.

It's the same everywhere in the UK though, Liverpool when I was last up was pricey and Manchester this weekend I was paying prices I'd pay down here.

Just feels like we go though a recalibration every now again.

Can't wait for inflation to kick in.

It’s all this fucking excess demand due to us all being desperate to get back out and be normal again. Hotel prices in the uk are through the roof, and the green listed counties abroad are the same. The ambers are still chucking ridiculously cheap deals about and then will hike the prices beyond recognition when they hit green like the rest.

The travel trade in general does my fucking head in. Ringing round a couple of them to get quotes and make plans. Tell them you’ll call back and they say “don’t take long as it’s a live system”. I only want an hour to have a sarnie and mull it over with the mrs you cunt. Call back and “it’s gone up £200. I did warn you”. Funny that it never goes down isn’t it during those little windows.

Its fucking shite. I get that businesses need to claw money back after what’s gone on, but it’s always been a thing - charge what you can get away with rather than the actual value. Pounds will be like pesetas if it doesn’t slow down soon with the current climate.

We bought our pedigree dog 5 years ago for £750. They’re £3-4K now. Just because they can get away with it. It’s a mixed breed as well. I remember when you’d get offered them for free because someone’s dog had been for a wander, been goosed by the local stray and they had a load of mongrels. Just offered them around. Never see free dogs anymore. Apart from rescues, but I think they cost now as well.

Bit of a rant there. Sorry about that.

Daughter visited family there at the weekend and had her new I.phone robbed by a beggar. The disruption was ridiculous, cost me a grand as well to replace it for her.

Fuck sake, the horrible cunt. I’m sure you’ve explored it but did it have a tracker on it or anything?

Dead end mate, think they ripped the arse out of it, happened in Knightsbridge of all places, she was eating outside, stupidly left it on the table, two beggars got in her face when she wouldn’t buy a flower and then had her off. Whatcha gonna do?? Gutted for her it destroyed her weekend. I guess she’s lucky I had the means to sort it out and get her a replacement, obviously others aren’t so lucky. Also she’s an angry fucker and tried to chase them but couldn’t get near as she was wearing high heels. I’m thankful for that at least, she could have ended up getting hurt.

Absolute twats. It’s a shitty state of affairs that you’ve got to be so on the ball with stuff like that especially in London, they go out purely to rob. Bastards.

Saw the footage of some lad getting attacked and stabbed by a gang in Hyde Park earlier. Fucking stomach churning stuff.

Having said that, I quite like going round London. I've spent many hours walking round it on my own while my wife is seeing back specialists in Guy's and St Thomas hospitals

Been down there for a few days with my girls in the summer holidays for the last couple of years. Becoming a kind of annual thing like Anubis’ brother. Probably gonna go this year too but we’ve done most of the main tourist stuff and plenty of other stuff on the side. It was a bit shit last year having to wear the mask everywhere but it is what it is. The ‘eat out to help out’ did bring the cost down to be fair.

Hoping to maybe get them to a West End show this year as Turdsette will be old enough to enjoy that this time around. Then maybe a river cruise or something like that which we’ve never done. I’d happily spend all day in and around Leicester Square watching the street performers if the weather was nice.

There are plenty of free/cheap things to do down there for kids though. Natural History Museum, etc. The Science Museum is superb and the bit on the top floor that you need to pay to get into is great fun.

I fucking hate London. I only go for work so on full expenses but still fume at the piss taking bastards having people off with their prices.

The fact the place is a shithole only adds to my rage. I genuinely wouldn’t move there if the house prices were half what they are here, never mind about 4 times as much.

2/10, stay well away
