Strike - Watched the first two episodes back to back today and I liked it. Good old fashioned drama with a good cast and well shot. Nothing ground breaking about it but I found it quite absorbing.

Liked the books & felt quite dirty when I was told it was JK Rowling using a pseudonym.

Seriously? I have to admit that I watch it,but its more like not being able to avoid looking at a car crash. First two series were decent but since then its been pretty average for me. Some of the acting,oh marone.

Ha, you definitely need to leave your brain at the door at times but it's entertained me for four seasons and that's more than can be said about some shite on tv.

Snowfall.

If you don't know its about the rise of Crack in LA.

Nothing new but watchable and promising for S2.

Look out for Freddy Mercury.

6.8/10

I'd agree with your marks but feel disappointed with it overall as its just not gritty enough for what its subject matter is. Its typical of most FX series in that it just falls short due to them curbing bad language and sexual scenes.

I'd consider the FX criticism more valid of an older show like Sons of Anarchy where bikers don't say fuck or cunt ever and escorts and porn stars don't show their nipples. There has been a basic cable relaxing on bad language recently. Recent FX shows use fuck and Feud got to use cunt. Shows like You're the Worst and The Americans have had some pretty sexualised scenes but still no nipples.

I'd possibly mark Snowfall slightly higher than you both. I really liked that the cast were fresh to me. I'd not seen the leads Franklin, CIA agent, rebel/drug dealer and wrestler/drug dealer in anything before so to me they were the character rather than the guy from that series/film.
