How exactly was it a 'stamp'? I recognise that it can easily be seen as dangerous play and that this probably formed the basis of the ref's decision. I don't think Nani was trying to foul Arbeloa though. His shithouse antics pretending to be injured made what followed all the better. I've already said I'm not complaining about the decision because I thought it was funny as fuck. Mourinho played it smart by subbing Arbeloa soon after because he was already on a yellow, and you can be sure that shithouses like Evra and Young would have tried to get him second-yellowed to even things up.

if everybody is expecting a yellow card why was it such a surprise when it was a red card?

 

I don't think it was a red card myself but until the rules and decisions are black and white then your'e gonna have these grey area decisions.

 

one ref gives a red, one gives a yellow and another does nothing.

 

cunting refs are making decisions with huge football and financial implications.

Andy Townsend in his infinite wisdom said 'that's gonna be a yellow'. There was no indication of what the ref was going to do. So I presume that's why everyone watching thought perhaps it was going to be a yellow.
