Isn't the Ask the relatively ok one and Catcher In The Rye is the lying obsessed with us cunt? Might have it wrong, they're probably both meffs.

Catcher In The Rye, Davek, and anyone with 1872 in their forum name are arch bitters  Merro is too busy with his 'Merro Media Group' (Twitter and Facebook) to be anything but  part-time bitter.

The 777 clubs are not faring very well on the pitch. Melbourne Victory, who were bought in October 2022, finished 11th in the 12-team A-League in 2022. Hertha Berlin, who suffered the ignominy of relegation in 2022-23, are currently next to bottom in Bundesliga 2, Europa League holders Sevilla are staring up from the foot of La Liga, Standard Liege are without a win in their six games, Vasco da Gama are struggling against relegation in Brazil and Genoa are below mid-table in Italy. Only Red Star Paris, who play in the third tier of French football, are faring well so far this season. It is early days, but there are some unhappy fans out there who are struggling to believe in the process.”

Bloomberg) -- Everton Football Club is close to an agreement to be acquired by 777 Partners LLC following months of talks between the parties, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Club owner Farhad Moshiri, who has invested hundreds of millions of pounds into the underperforming team during his tenure at the Liverpool-based club, is expected to exit with a fraction of the money he invested, said the person, who asked not to be identified since the negotiations are private.

A deal could be announced as soon as Tuesday. If consummated, the sale will bring the number of American-owned
Premier League teams to 10 out of 20. The parties are in the late stages of talks, and the deal could still fall apart. Moshiri’s legacy includes a partly-complete, state-of-the-art stadium in the Bramley-Moore Dock area of Liverpool.

An outside spokesperson for Everton declined to comment.

777 has been building a stable of historic football teams over the past 21 months that stretches from Brazil to Belgium. It has had some successes, such as leading Genoa back into Italy’s Serie A after inheriting a team that was on its way to relegation. Co-founder Josh Wander says 777 has more than doubled squad value at Genoa while reducing squad costs there by 50%.

Vasco da Gama in Brazil also won promotion last year, while Hertha Berlin has been relegated to Germany’s second tier.

Everton has narrowly avoided relegation the past two seasons and has made an inauspicious start to the current season with only one draw and three losses.

Relegation from the Premier League to the Championship tier is costly. The broadcast fees fall from a minimum of £100 million ($125 million) a year in the top tier to less than £10 million, though relegated teams receive payments to soften the blow for a period of three years.

Moshiri was backed by his former business partner, the Russian Alisher Usmanov before he was sanctioned shortly after the invasion of Ukraine. The group acquired the team in 2016.

777 is being advised on the deal by Tifosy Capital & Advisory, the specialist sports business advisers, as well as on a possible capital raise.

Everton has also been negotiating with MSP, a sports investor, about a loan deal. MSP declined to comment.

Given the stadium build is through a separate company, and the MSP loan would go towards the build, I wonder if Moshiri is trying to divest himself of the club at a loss, but keep the stadium and get his money back slowly by charging them a fortune in rent.

There's all kinds of allegations out there about 777 - and not just about their behaviour around football teams. There was a Brazilian site that had loads of the football stuff on, but I just tried that link and the site seems to be gone. It's hard to see what their MO is outside of some type of money laundering scam.

Stay classy, Everton.

Wish the death of their Chairman of about 50 years who is probably the only reason anybody even mentions Everton. Bill Kenwright is probably the only person who has kept them relevant, however poorly he has done it at times.

They would come full circle then. Get pissed off about a rent increase, move out then reform in Bootle.

Like in the Matrix when Neo finds out it’s a never ending cycle of Zion being destroyed by the machines to start again.

Very little that Chairman Bill has done in his tenure was openly criticised by them as a fanbase at the time. They've applied a lot of hindsight to his tenure, making out that he ran the place into the ground in the face of open criticism from the fans for years.

They applauded him when he came up with the People's Club bullshit. They thought he was the greatest when Moyes was in charge. They loved him for bringing in Mosh when they thought they were going to be the next bankrolled chequebook team.

I've no great love for Billwright, other than the fact he's always been a decent fella over Hillsborough. But their rewriting of his history to portray themselves as "right all along" and him as some destructive force despite their opposition is characteristically detached from reality.
