The Daily Express never fails in its mission to scare pensioners with tales of impending weather doom. I see they now have an artists impression of a monster wave about to swamp the whole of Britain ,accurately measured at 75ft to be fair, and have slipped "tsunami" into the narrative. Top fucking journalism there; just need to link in the royal family under imminent threat of drowning in the floods and their mission would be complete.

They must have signed up that UKIP mentalist ,who linked it all to Gays getting hitched. to write their editorials. That would be a match made in heaven .

To suggest that the government, by relaxing rules on planning applications, can walk away from the flooding issue is mildly bewildering. They are providing the framework within which the local councils operate. In fact they have made it very easy for councils to set much less stringent criteria by which developers can win permission to build, including building on flood plains.

To be fair there have been loads of properties underwater around Staines and Chertsey for weeks.

So, what is the explanation for the slow/inadequate/pathetic response when, from a safe distance oop north, this all seems to be taking place in prime tory country?
