To me that means disrupting 2 players & leaves us with the slower of the two facing De Maria.

 

I would play Carra there. He is the only squad member fit & available who has played the position at the top level.

 

Rafa could also play the old 3-card trick and go 352 hoping that Johnson pushes De Maria back & negates his influence. ( Don't see it though )

I wouldn't switch Agger at the moment, he's in really good form. I'd bring in the Greek and switch Carra over to the left who you know will run himself into the ground for the cause.

 

It will also be good to have the Greek around for set pieces.

This is what I'd go with. I suggested it for the Mancs game as I thought Valencia would give Insua some trouble. They are at their most dangerous on the flanks and we'd have pace out there. At home most of us would want Aquilani playing anyway.

I'm swaying towards Agger at left back but think against a team like Benfica the jolly green Greek giant might struggle if we bring him in at centre half.
