Think I've found my perfect pair - Levi's 541 athletic fit.

 

Similar to 501s, but a bit more room in the thigh, not a totally straight fit as to leave a wide ankle opening that envelopes a flat shoe, and most importantly a zip fly. Oh, and a hint of stretch.

 

My quest is over. Now to find the perfect pair of gloves.
