In fact the whole final season was a let down, I was fuming after the final episode as it was so unsatisfying.

Having trudged through the 2nd series the third never kept me interested enough to keep going with it. I cant remember much of it either.

I thought the 2nd and 3rd seasons were excellent, as Section has mentioned the Pegasus episode is top, top TV and the whole New Caprica storyline is fantastic. The 4th season just didn't live up to the same high standards and there were so many things that didn't seem to make sense in the finale that I was left disappointed.

Agree with that. The series goes downhill following the New Caprica rescue. They took a wrong turn steering away from the 'struggling for resources' and 'what are you willing to do to survive' themes and bringing in all the destiny and mythical shite. When I bought the last series I actually found it unwachable. The Plan TV film and Caprica are also shite.

Completely agree Section. The destiny, theistic story-lines often seemed far too contrived as well as being mostly a bit naff, President Roslin began to really annoy me as the seasons progressed too. There were some really excellent elements to the whole programme but it could have been better. Was the 4th season interrupted or affected by the writer's strike at all? It would explain some of the drop in standards if things had to be rushed to be completed before the strike or if there was a lack of continuity in the second half.

I thought the revelation of the first 4 of the 'final 5' was excellent, I thought they picked really good characters to go down that route with, although I was gutted at the Chief as he was one of my favourites! However, Helen as the 5th one just didn't work for me, maybe it's just because I found her a really uninteresting character.

Just finished the finale of this. Slightly disappointed at the ending as it felt a bit too wrapped up but thought the series was a superb one.

 

The Plan and Caprica will be watched at some point and looking forward to seeing how well they do Blood and Chrome, which is gonna be set after Caprica and before Battlestar.

I was just ranting about the finale last night to some friends. What a let down.

Bought the Caprica pilot and 'The Plan' but couldn't make it even half way through either of them. I'm hard pressed to remember a series that declined as badly as this did. Seasons 1&2 were sensational, the first few episodes of season 3 and a two-parter in the final season were top class, the rest was average at best, some of it bordering on total nonsense.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome has part been released. It has been done as a two hour movie to be fully released/televised next February but is getting put out as ten twelve minute episodes on YouTube. First two embedded below. I'm personally gonna wait till next year though and watch it properly.

Edit: If anyone has watched the first episode, is it just me that had huge flashbacks to cut-scenes from the Wing Commander games?
