PS3 Help needed

My PS3 seems to be fucked. After installing an update (even though it's not connected to the internet?) the screen comes up with a rather disturbing message:-

'Your hard drive is corrupted'

I'm no expert but this is obviously bad news? I've never played online with it and this has only happened since my son started playing Smackdown v Raw 2009.

Here's the killer though, PS3 purchased Nov 30 2007, and it screwed up yesterday Nov 30, 2008. Ergo - outside the warranty period.....

Anyone else have this problem and if so what action should I take?

Telephone Sony on 08705998877 and explain the situation and they should arrange for an exchange. My Blu Ray drive is on its last legs and they've agreed to replace it even though it's out of the warranty period. I think you get a further 3 month warranty after they've exchanged it.

Or if it's working fine otherwise you could just replace the HDD.
