Great team performance again, though Babel was wasteful and Kuyt had another shocker - after a few average performances he's back looking like a Div 2 player teleported into the Liverpool team. Let's hope he raises his game, because Benitez won't leave him out.

Tonight showed why we are a CL and cup team and not a premiership winning one.

 

We are difficult to beat and have two players in Gerrard and Torres that can win a game out of nothing for us.

 

However we were and are very poor in the wide arears and struggle to create the chances needed to open up defensive teams in the PL and the mentality of not getting beat means we draw too many games and we need real quality on the flanks to win the PL

I still think that Jamie C should play at Centre Back or not at all given that he isn't a good a full back as Arbeloa or Finnan. Using him at right back is to me just "accomodating" an influential player and nothing more and I thought Rafa wouldn't be into doing that.

 

I hate players out of position as it will demoralise the players fighting for that position and also without a doubt we would be taking a drop in quality in that area. It isn't like Gerrard on the right, as quite clearly Gerrard is still our best right sided midfield player, this is different.

 

I think we are the best team left in the Champions League and we can win it again so this isn't a criticism of yesterday but in order to truly become consistent in our team play we need to get players in positions they are going to hold for a little while. Apologies if I have missed Arbeloa or Finnan being injured.

Which baffled me a bit because he's really good in the air. Maybe Rafa thought that Arbeloa would struggle in the air but I don't think it was an issue myself as Inter didn't get wide at all and tried to play short passes through the middle.
