Yes.

Don't worry in terms of the money. If the card hasn't been out of your possession you're covered.

Its annoying though. I was done by some brummy cunts. After a bit of digging i managed to get an address for the people that did the fraud (I work for a bank and wrote my banks anti fraud software) and sent it on to Wolverhampton police.

i got a call a few days later from the coppers. They'd been but no one was in, although the neighbours reckoned they were shifty. Never heard anything after that. A big well done to Wolverhampton police for calling when the fraudsters were out

:wallbutt:

the lad from mbna said not to worry, i wouldnt have to pay them back, i reckon it`d be pretty easy to track the person down though, if they bought flowers online, they must have gotten them delivered, then the plane tickets, they could easily track the person through that

i dont wanna sound racist, but arent the eastern europeans mad into this, plus, the flight to Riga indicates that as well

i have to say, i got some fucking shock when i checked my account earlier, damn near shat myself, then being on hold for a fucking hour didnt help :no

I'll tell you how easy it was for me.

I work for the bank that I bank with. A guy in the fraud dept contacted me, because the software I designed detected an unusual purchase on my card (at least it works! Amazing what you can do when you just make stuff up)

He gave me the name of retailer (£900 to some shitty pc website). I rang them and sounded authorative, and in what was possibly a conflict of interest said i was from the bank as well as being the fraudee, and they gave me the sign on details for the person who did the fraud

I had the persons name, phone number, address, dob etc all of which I passed on to the police who did fuck all.

I live 150 miles from where the fraud was done. I REALLY wanted to go down with a big bat and crack some skull. Alas, I have a wife who prefers not to visit me in prison.

Problem is though, how did (s)he steal it? Unless you know, it can happen again tomorrow. They might steal other things as well, identity, etc. but then again, I'm just paranoid according to a lot of people.

I've been begging them to steal my identity and all my debt so I can get a new one and start over again.

All those porn sites, Nigerian royalty and friends named Pavel and Vladimir from strange Baltic countries. No takers.

I can tell you it can get much worse than that. My Father-in-law spent over 3 years in prison, because someone stole his identity and used in his crimes. He was only acquitted, when they caught the real criminal in a totally unrelated crime. Trust me, its something you never want happening to you, or your family.

ok, now, thats my big family secret, and I reserve the right to be very fucking paranoid on this, whether anyone wants to take the piss or not.

The wife reads a little on the FF, and she still has problems with this, but she allowed me to post this, since this is the second time it has been brought up, and people seem (to me) to take this too lightly.

As you were.

What did he get when they found the right criminal? An "Oops, sorry mate" or £1m?

I was once held for 5 hrs (I know, nothing compared to 3 years...) suspected for several break ins, they treated me as guilty all the time, denying me phone calls, water etc, but after finally cross checking my alibies they let me go. Even then they just looked at me like they "knew I was me" even though they knew othervice. No "sorry mate" or nothing. I later found out that they were not allowed to say sorry for wrong arrests, police policy.....I had my exams the day after too, lost 5 critical reading hours, and were not back home until midnight. Fuckers. The worst thing though wasn't the lost 5 hrs, but the feeling that there were no way out of there and that they were actually going to lock me up for something I wasn't even close to have done.

I had a call a year or so ago from my credit card company and said that I had just purchased €500 worth of toys in some shop in Greece... obviously it wasn't me as the lady was speaking to me at work... it had flagged it up straight away as the monitor spending trends... petrol, sainsbury's, petrol, sainsbury's - greece....!!! The bloked the card there and then, sent me a form, I filled it out and that was that... never heard anything again...

Each day in prison was given a certain amount, but nothing even close to 1m, less than 100.000. And no sorry here either, but have no idea whether that is policy or not.

I can only symphatise. Nothing good comes out of a situation like this. Nothing.

How do they even do this shit anyway?

Quite easily according to the news. It was just on saying it is a 100 million business and the new pin numbers that were meant to cut it out are not worth a carrot. I think it is here to stay and what ever measures the banks take the fraudsters are a step ahead.

I work in a reasonably small City in a rural force. If we were given details of offenders such as thos elisted above the crime would be investigated and the person(s) arrested.

However if it happened in a large City I very much doubt the Police would do anything at all. The resources just aren't there in a big City and if fucks me off.

And Kop, when were you held for five hours and refused water etc? I have never seen it happen in three years. If anything it fucks me right off to have been rolling around with some drunken wife beating twat for ten minutes whilst he screams he wants to rape and kill my mother, only to have the Custody desk Sergeant ask 'would you like a drink, tea. coffee, hot chocolate?' to the idiot when in Custody.

I work as a part time guard.

Nothing beats my jailhouse coffee. I put the coffe, the coffe whitener and the sugar all throught the machine and it comes out ace.

In all my years I've never heard a spousal abuser, drunk or anyone actually admit what they did is wrong and they have to learn to keep things in check.

It's always 'fuckin' bitch did this, fuckin bitch did that'; fuckin cops should mind thier own business, who called the fuckin cops, that witness didn't see nuthin and my personal favourite- my Charter rights have been violated (usually after being arrested being drunk and denied a coffee after whacking their spouse aboot.)

Accountability. It's a lost attribute these days.

The Kopshank Redemption.

The cops came for my mate at work once and I told him I didn't know who he was. They threatened to take me in, so I sent them to this other lads place (same first name). He was quite upset at me as he was (unbeknownst to me) on probation and had been drinking on his day off.

Needless to say the detective was not a happy camper so I told him like fuck I'm going to turn my mate, why don't you just give me your card and I'll let him know (it was actually a fraud case, the nitwit had stole $100 gift certificates and was using them to buy cigarettes and pocketing the difference). He gave me his card, my mate turned himself in and did 4 months. Everybody was happy.

The moral of the story is that the pizza business is often full of shady characters.

It's a looong time ago, I was 18. The cop who brought me in was known to be the sheriff type, never smiling and using shades when it was dark. I was one of the good guys amongst the younsters at the time, but I knew many of those who were not so they thought they had something on me. I was actually driving my moped from training to my afternoon work (cleaning the kindergarden where my mum worked.....), so when they saw a moped with a trainingbag on the baggage board pulling up to a house where there were a kindergarden in the ground floor they thought they had him (the one who, over the last few days in that area, had walked into 5-6 houses when people had their after dinner nap). I can see that it looked suspicious, but when they took me to one of the houses that had just been done and showed me off outside when the owners stood inside to see if it was the right guy, the saw that I couldn't be the one (they actually knew my mother very well and recognized me at once). At the time I didn't even know why they were taking me all these places, making me stand outside houses, turning around etc. They didn't tell me why they brought me in until about 3 hrs after stopping me.

The funny thing though is that when I told my mother why I was so late home (and why I hadn't been able to clean the kindergarden she worked in), she was fuming, saying she should call the police station the next day demanding a "We're so sorry". That's what you want when you're 18.......your mother taking care of business for you....of course she did it in spite of my complaints. The chief on the station were an old schoolmate of her's, that's when we found out that it was police policy to not say sorry for an arrest (and that was all I wanted to be honest, I understand their need to pull in a suspect even if it shows that it's the wrong person).

The next day I went to clean the kindergarden in the afternoon (after failing my exams), afterwards I picked up a mate and gave him a ride to training on my moped. There was The Sheriff, lurking around the corner stopping me and giving me a ticked for having a passenger on my moped. My first and only ticket, not counting parking tickets:-)

Has it been proven that the money was for actual Flowers tho ???

In Brussels ,the cinemas are a nightmare .they sneak in UNDER the fookin seats ,take the cards and put back the purse and money.Inevitably the cards used and maxed out within a hour ,usually from some Gare Du Noord Cafe/Shop/Brothel
