That’s where the sense of losing your mind comes from: the fact that it seems, for the first time that I can think of, western powers are unable to credibly pretend that there is some global system of rules that they uphold. They seem to simply say: there are exceptions, and that’s just the way it is. No, it can’t be explained and yes, it will carry on until it doesn’t at some point, which seems to be when Israeli authorities feel like it.

Israel intends to destroy Hamas; presumably many of it's members fled south during the intial bombardments to add to those already located there.

 

So will Israel proceed to destroy southern Gaza as well? And where will the people forced from north to south, as well as those already living in the south, go? Back to/into the rubble of the north?

 

How many more innocent men, women and children will Israel kill?

Israel intends to destroy Palestine. It's a far easier goal than destroying Hamas, and in fact in the case of most right wing politicians in Israel they have zero intention of destroying Hamas. Hamas is their raison d'etre.

 

Where will the people go? Egypt? The sea? The morgue? Israel isn't interested, and they don't have to be. They've got half of Europe tripping over themselves to justify genocide, and the US providing them the means to do so.

 

I don't think for one second the ceasefire is going to lead to any meaningful long term change. It simply can't as Israel wouldn't unilaterally change the situation for Palestinians so they can live anything approaching a normal life and, as that won't happen, Palestinians will continue to be "represented" by the absolute fucking worst cunts in the country. The best the ceasefire will achieve is allowing a few people to escape the hell that Israel has created.
