We’ll never know if Bellingham actually ‘wanted’ us, but this lad is on record as being a Liverpool fan. Given we’re looking for a left sided CB to fit the new system and eventually take over from Virgil/long term Konate partner, we have no excuses for not being interested in him.

He’s the one I’d be happy us pushing the boat out on. Otherwise we’re still in that £3bn house, with no mortgage but the kitchen has a stand-alone cooker and in the bathroom the shower doesn’t work and toilets don’t flush.

I'm with you, but those TAG watches are pricey and sometimes you need to buy a Casio and hope it does the same job, ain't that right @Bobby Hundreds

It will do a job but it's not impressing anybody. I think I may approach looking at watches like Liverpool I'm going to actually walk into the shop and tell the sales assistant I've been monitoring this certain  watch but have decided you want more than I'm willing to pay so have decided to end my interest and just walk straight out of the store to the nearest lucky lucky man. I might even make a few tweets expressing my interest in the watch for a few weeks.

What! You want money!

I know Man City literally have the FM editor enabled and have unlimited money, but the difference in approach between them and us is pretty stark. They have just done the Treble and are looking as getting rid of players like Laporte and Walker, bringing in Gvardiol and Kovacic.

When we won the league/European Cup we were told that we couldnt buy anyone because their werent any players out their better than what we already had.

Get what you’re saying. Not coming to argue (!) but…

…City seem to have a few players who seemingly want to leave. Laporte & Walker aren’t happy with their game time, Gundogan doesn’t look like he’ll extend, Silva has been making murmurs he’s wanted to leave for a couple of years, Cancelo is seemingly going etc etc.

Like us now, they are an aging side. The above players are late 20’s / early 30’s and De Bruyne is about to turn 32.

We were a happy camp at the right age for a couple of years. Everybody seemed settled.

I think part of the difference is Guardiola has rebuilt great sides before, Klopp hasn’t.

I know Guardiola inherited a great Barca side, he still actively got rid of Ronaldinho, Henry, Eto’o, Toure etc and made extensive changes to a winning team.

Guardiola knows that to keep the hunger as high, you need to keep the players fresh, which in turn keeps the message fresh.

I’m not criticising Klopp per se, we all agree to an extent on the dealings of last summer, based on previous experience, I think Guardiola understands the rebuild phase better and having players wanting to leave and an ability to dominate the transfer market at every club he’s been at, makes that job easier.

As long as it tells the right time …. It can perform as well as a TAG.

We got a TAG at Casio prices with Mac Allister (who you seem to have power washed to remove the Brighton stink now, judging by the POD) So now, in our £3bn house with no mortgage. It’s time to get, and I’m mixing our analogies here, the kitchen sorted with marble worktops and an island, integrated cooker and hob, with one of those fancy boiling water taps to make quick tea ….. or in some other world, Gvardiol ….

I know everybody is raving about Gvardiol, and I grudgingly admit that Messi is a decent player, but my lasting memory of Josko is him being lured by Lionel into the left back position  and chasing him like a deranged Benny Hill sketch during the World Cup with the 50 year old Messi going away from him while dribbling the ball for 40 yards.

You have "but" written like it's just a small thing. That but should be in size 90 font, the only consideration they have on any player is their ability. That's a fairly tidy place to be in.

Benjamin Mendy is out of contract in a couple of weeks, £50m transfer, plus 200k each week in wages pissed up against a wall. Never mentioned, no impact on the team, just buy Cancelo on a 6 year contract, another 200k per week, if he doesn't work just bin him and get someone else. Danilo was in there somewhere too, £27m on a 5 year contract. Transfers, agents and wages you're looking at £200m plus on a left backs and the net result is you need another one.

I'm going to guess Liverpool Football Clubs combined profits since 1892 don't match that figure. Give me £50m a year to spend on fullbacks and I'll eventually get you a good one.

Probably because Gvardiol didn't know whether to tackle him or ask him for a picture together. It was Messi, mate.

Gvardiol is a good defender with a lot of potential, that also is worth nowhere near the amount that is being mentioned. Just no value in it if you are a club with any sort of budget.

The Leipzig model seems to have everyone thinking all their players are brilliant. They're all young and run.aorund a lot but a fair few of them flop once moving on. The flop list is a lot bigger that the success one.

You should send some Casios to chat to the TAGs and tell them how much they are wanted.

Other difference is that all Klopp teams couldn't afford fuck ups on the rebuild. Pep absolutely fucked up his initial Barcelona rebuild before spending again to get it right. Hleb,Chyhrynskyi,Zlatan,Kerrison,Cáceres all big money signings.

Agree. Given the quality he’s inherited, the draw of working with him and his ability to dominate the market makes his role easier.

He’s make expensive mistakes at City as well (Mendy, Phillips, Torres, Nolito, Bravo, Danilo etc) but he’s been able to just spend more to cover them up.

It’s significantly easier to replace Sane, Sterling & Jesus when they want to leave (or are at least open to it), you get good fees and can buy who you want to replace them (whatever they spent on Haaland, £100m Grealish etc).

Everton look at players like I look at Sophia Vergara, I’m willing to go deep into the overdraft, take out a payday loan from a crook, sell the family silver to show her a good time if she’d so much as show me the time of day and pretend she sees me as I see myself.

She would show you the time of day on her Rolex and pat your Casio wearing head lovingly to send you on your way.
