I was listening to that Melissa Reddy on a podcast and she said Liverpool where shocked how quickly and cheap Newcastle got Guimaraes with no competition as he's  player they greatly admired and will go on to be world class. Maybe Liverpool need to realise there's other clubs in the world who want players to improve their teams they just dont wait until liverpool can scrape some cash together. The same with Bellingham that ship will of sailed because his name has outgrown his value.

Feel like if we're after Luiz it'll be to use him akin to Wijnaldum - a Swiss army knife, whose main attributes we're coveting are fitness and athleticism. Things Klopp can mould into that midfield.

Yeah, agreed. And also for Klopp to have new nickname fodder. "Dougie Lou".

All this talk of midfield transfers brings us back to one of the real big guns of that genre in recent windows. Arsenal need reinforcements with Thomas Partey and Mo Elneny unavailable. Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool need more options in the middle. And hell, Leicester need the money.

It all might finally be falling into place for Youri Tielemans, the subject of a mysterious £19m bid. Football Insider know not which club lodged it but they do state that the Foxes ‘had been hoping for higher offers’.

The stated price last week was around £30m so whichever team it is are either hoping to induce a late-window panic or they will have to find an extra bit of cash from somewhere.

If this Luiz is versatile and able to stay fit - he instantly offers more to us as a squad member in midfield than Keita and Oxlade - so on that basis we should get it done.

We can always sell him next summer if he does not work out and we have upgraded in midfield......but he just might do ok and be a handy squad player to have over next few years - at the very least he would take those two's places next season in squad.
