We've got around 3500 videos on random loop in our bar. I've noticed lately that it's a bit rock / 80's / ska heavy. We don't do generic dance music or dancey beats or anything currently charting; that helps keep the divs out. Would love some ideas on what you'd like to hear if you walked in to a small, cozy, slightly quirky bar?

Music that I find makes for a good pub atmosphere tends to be good soul, Motown, Stax & Atlantic stuff from the 60s.

Worthwhile mentions to The Faces, the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack & Kind of Blue by Miles Davis (for the quieter moments).

Oh & make sure Free Bird, Hotel California & American Pie are banned from your playlist.

Agree on the soul stuff.

Reggae for an afternoon, soul for the evening, then old school hip hop at night.

Or garage punk all day everyday.
