Russia deserved banning from the games. Once the state becomes involved in wide spread doping and intimidating officials. And uses operatives to get hold of samples then that state needs banned from competition. The same should have been done to the USA in the late 80s when US Athletics continued to let the likes of Carl Lewis off with failed test so they would win medals. The new he had doped and surpressed the infomation so he could compete

So based on your theory how could you ban Russia when the US have previous for doing it,China too?

Athletics,Cycling too of course, has been a con job for years and has turned into a sort of testing group for drugs,a bit like F1 is or was for testing engines to use in manufacturers cars.

I'll have a Mercedes EPO please.

I daid that the US should have been banned as should China. A statement needed to be made,Doping has been going on years but only became aa public issue in the 80s when test were becoming public. The major difference was that the US wasn't using spies and agents to switch samples, intimidate officials etc.

Any nation found to be involved in state sponsored doping need banned.

If the US was doping, which it likely was,it must have been doing the same as the Russians were. Either that or they already controlled the officials and didnt need to.

The US was doing its own testing and not passing on the results/ hey were not using undercover agents to intimadate officials, open samples sent from labs or using mouseholes to pass samples through. They should still have been banned but we are talking 25/30 years ago. During the cold war when both sides were cheating to fuck. It needs stopped and the Russian government was involved not just the athletic bosses.

Some obviously were. I don't remember the last time I saw GDR winning any medals.

The sanctions also prevent Russia from hosting events during the ban.

St Petersburg is a host city for group games and a quarter-final at next summer's European Championship (which is being hosted by several countries), as well as staging the Uefa Champions League final in 2021.

However, it will be allowed to fulfil those obligations as European football's governing body Uefa is not defined as a "major event organisation" with regards to rulings on anti-doping breaches.

That also allows Russia, who have already qualified for Euro 2020, to play at the tournament.
