Yes he was malingering on the sidelines for the Barcelona 4-0 game

Forgot about that one! One of the few times I've heard Klopp playing mind games when he suggested before the game that Rhian Brewster might start.

Even thinking about that Barca game mystifies me. I think football is completely fucked now, that was the most special night I’ve ever had watching football, it’ll never be as good again.

It’s nights like that that make it harder to watch the players perform like they did last season. It was just fucking brilliant.

I read some comments about selling him.

This must be by people who are interested in new things more than than they are in quality things.

One of the best players in world football, and he plays on the right for Liverpool.  Get in.

We wouldn't be able to replace him. Scores goals, males goals, never misses a game and is one of the most famous footballers on the planet. Keeps himself fit so will be going strong for a good few seasons yet. Great role model too.

Personally I think it comes from the way we've been conditioned to accept we're only spending big if we sell. I don't think anyone really wants him gone, but they clutch at the idea we might bring 2 or 3 good players in with the money. And of course like the kane thread, the lad isn't getting younger.

Our expectations have been managed.

Exactly. We couldn’t improve on him. Also, I’m convinced he’ll reach Modric/Maldini/Milner levels of still being great well into his thirties.

Selling him would be like removing the foundations and ground floor to rebuild the rest.

Yeah, that’s all true.

Also a risk that we’d end up doing the equivalent of selling Gerrard and replacing him with Lee Cattermole, Neil Lennon and Jason Koumas.
