The standard of co-commentary and summarising is dreadful. So often, they claim something to have happened and when replays clearly show the opposite, they double down on their original opinion or begrudgingly admit that they initially got it wrong. It's like nobody wants to admit they got it wrong. They also tend to join in the talking waffle with the main commentator instead of displaying an understanding of the game before them. If they have club allegiances and are covering that team's game, they are either be biased in favour or attempt to show impartiality by calling everything the other way against them. They sound both shit and clueless as a result.

Put some of these same people in the studio with time to analyse and form opinions, and it's like night and day. Both Carragher and Neville are miles better as studio pundits than when they're alongside Tyler or whoever. They can explain a situation much more clearly and make much more sense as a result.

I don't know why a co-commentator/summariser is needed nowadays anyway.

The studio is easy because they have more time and facilities at hand while co-commentating requires on the spot observations. Its why few pundits are very good managers/coaches and the ones who are you can tell why.

9/10 pundits and commentators are morons who can barely get a sentence out or the game has passed them by completely and none of what they say is relevant.

With the British broadcasters BT Sport and Sky their coverage of foreign football is considerably better than their coverage of English football. I think they realise that with English football as long as they have some big names, some hype, and some laddish culture, that this punditry and commentary is fine.

You're right though, you'd think a basic grasp of the language that you are supposed to be commentating in would be a prerequisite to being a fucking commentator.

My hate for Martin Tyler is increasing by the week. It started out with him just annoying me but as the season has progressed it's turned to genuine hate. He despises us with a passion and is shit at hiding it. If we have to hear him again it will mean City have slipped up on Monday so I'm looking forward to his sweet nothings on Sundays, prick.

This 100% he's not even disguising it now a bit like Alan " smudger " Smith another twat .

Not sure if Tyler hates us. Have heard him going mental when we've scored as with City, chelsea and others. He evidently loves Man U/Fergie though but maybe  that has something to do with them dominating for 20 odd years that we associate him with them. His delight when Aguero scored to deny the mancs at the death would indicate he's not a red manc.

Smith is a complete knobhead. Desperate to see us fail. Not sure why. There was no great dislike between Arsenal and us when he played and unlike a lot of pros from the 70s and 80s, he won two titles. Comes across as a real little Englander so if he was a fan and not made it as a footballer, he'd probably be posting on a leicester forum about wanting City to stop the bin dippers. Twat.

No mention in the post match discussion on MOTD about Trent being fouled in the lead up to the Newcastle corner before their goal.

Not anything during or after about Mane being kicked in the head, wasn't even shown.

Plenty of Trent's "handball" and Fabihno's free kick. Weird that you have to rely on Jermaine Jenas and Martin Keown for any balanced discussion, whereas Danny Murphy comes across as totally anti-LFC.

About that free kick...

How come pundits who could only see a rear view of the incident on the telly absolutely know that it was no foul and that the professional referee's assistant who was standing a few feet in front of the incident, with a perfect view, got it wrong?

Why is Tyler still in employment? The whole "And it's live!" thing is cringeworthy shit. It's not 1992 you withered ballbag.

Pundits are shit because they basically fall into 4 categories:

1 - the old pro who only knows alehouse tactics so is derisive of anything 'modern' like possession or zonal marking. Loves watching physical contests with no quality on show, calls scrappy passages of play brilliant football, cannot describe any passages of play that do not involve a set-piece, and has a hard-on for 'David vs Goliath' FA Cup ties. Also has an overt hatred of everything foreign.

2 - the thick cunt who only knows Soccer AM style laddish banter where he who shouts loudest has the most valid opinion. Because they haven't heard of something or someone, it must be shit. Prone to following a pre-conceived narrative so has completely blinkered viwes. Also has an overt hatred of everything foreign.

3 - the recently retired or current player who still has mates playing and doesn't want to offend anybody, so spends all his time sitting on the fence speaking in vanilla. Looks like a rabbit in the headlights whenever on camera. Actually likes foreign footballers and coaches but doesn't want to say anything that might imply this to be the case.

4 - the mouthy gobshite who wants to be controversial, trying to sound authoritative about football just because they have interests outside the game that might make people think they are intellectual or entrepreneurial, therefore respectable. Openly biased, frequently wrong about things, unwilling to admit when clearly shown to be in the wrong. Also has an overt hatred of everything foreign.

Smith hit new heights of cuntishness yesterday. Utter drivel from start to finish.

I would like to see his flailing stick insect body get launched from the gantry as a warning to the other hapless pricks who think they know how to be a football commentator

Laughed at that far more than I should have!
