Just seen this

Really have to feel sorry for him and the family

Best wishes to all

Mikel Arteta has rocked Everton boss David Moyes' plans for next season after telling the Scot he wants to return to Spain.

The midfielder and his wife, Lorena, have been told their one-year-old son Gabriel is partially sighted.

And now the couple plan to return to Spain in order to be closer to their families for the sake of their son.

It is understood, Arteta's agent has already sounded out La Liga clubs about possible moves for the £12m-rated star.

The news will come as a major blow to Moyes who views the stylish Arteta as vital to his plans for next season.

Just playing devils advocate but do you think he could be using his son as a bit of an excuse to get a move home? It depends how bad partially sighted actually is but I don't see how being with his family would be any different if he was fully healthy or partially sighted I mean his family can't cure him. More likely than not he is doing it for his son and wife I suppose.

Maybe he feels his wife needs help due to him being away alot due to football commitments and they feel its best the help comes from family members rather than hired nannies, has he got other children? if so it would be hard for his wife to cope on her own for long periods of time while he wasn't there.there aren't many bigger clubs in spain (he was linked with us,arsenal, scum and citeh this summer)than the ones he was supposed to be linked with dont think he would end up at Barca or Real so if he just fancied a move carnt see him using this as an excuse when he could have gone to the others above

Feel for the Arteta's. He always came across as a decent, loyal guy, a rarity in English football. He'd be a fantastic, affordable addition to Barcelona, while they wait for Fabregas to come over in 2011/12.

Would personally love to see him at Atleti though, linking with Simao, Kun and Forlan.
