just ordered a sat nav case for the bike for some long journeys. Managing to get 250 miles on £12 petrol on my shitty 125! top end is shit obviously but it's a lovely feeling that i can leave traffic standing around town.

250 miles on 12 quid!!!! Bloody hell. Now the weather is good i'm getting a grand total of 56miles from around 12.5 litres. It's doing more damage to the environment than BP with a leaky pipe.

Just got in from taking the sick engine out of my baby. It's not good, it's very very not good. I've got metal flakes the size of my little finger nails in the sump. It's dead.

But on the bright side while I find an engine to go in I'm going to respray the frame a copper bronze colour, take a mould off the plastics behind the seat and redesign it and maybe even pick up an USD front end for it.

Might have found a fucking engine for it by then too.

Only had it for 2 months and i must admit it's getting a tad boring, need to have a few more months experience before going for the full test.

I plan to move up to a 400 after that and that will be it then. I'm thinking that as long as i can get up to 90mph for overtaking on motorways then their is no need for me to get anything bigger in engine size.

Will pop round your way soon i'll PM you when i'm coming down.

That's a really good attitude. I took the same path as you. Rode a 125 for about a year and then moved up to a Kawasaki ZXR400.

You will want something bigger though. It's not about how fast you go, it's about how fast you get to that speed! Also, 400's tend to not be physically very big. I rode from Chelmsford in Essex to Chepstow in Wales on my ZXR400 and I was literally crippled when I got there. My back and my knees were ruined.

3 HOURS 3 FUCKING HOURS!! And I'm still only half way trough stripping the old paint off the frame. Man I wish I knew someone with a sand blaster. This frame has been 6 different colours and ALL the fucking paint is still on the frame. Also found 2 bodged welds so they can be fixed. But I've got about 4 or 5 hours more work before it's ready for painting.

Fuck I hate bikes at times.

Had my first incident today, was going down this 4 laned main road, 2 lanes going in the direction I was and 2 coming towards me, there's a bus at a bus stop ahead and the road's empty apart from a Ford Escort that had come out of a parking space to the right of me, anyway it was facing the opposite way to the lane it was in and trying to come back across to the line I was in if you know what I mean? It had been parked on the opposite side of the road facing traffic and wanted to come onto my side.

Anyway, I'm about 20 foot away from it and 9 times out of 10 when you see a car like that you simply go past it and it pulls out behind you. I could feel this woman wasn't going to do that for some reason so I slowed right down, the parked cars to the left of me were also a hinderance as if she did pull out I could only go into them and not an empty space. Well lo and behold this old fucking slag did just that, she pulled out into my lane and basically cut me up when I was about 5ft away from her. That cues me slamming the breaks on and almost like leaning back? (basically putting the bike between me and the car) and making slight contact with the side of the car above the wheel, I didn't fully fall off the bike but sort of felt it get away from me for a split second if that makes sense? I felt contact but there was no damage to the bike. I could hear her saying sorry so i just sort of shook me head looked about and drove off towards the lights. It was red so I'm sitting there on the bike, bit shaken as i've had it two weeks and nearly dying is relatively new to me, look in my mirror and see this fucking hag just looking out her window as if fucks all happened, putting the radio on and all sorts.

If I didn't pre-empt the fact she was a fucking moron, I'd be dead and she didn't even seem arsed! Whoever said it earlier on in the thread about treating everyone else on the road as an idiot was spot on.

And another thing, foreigners make awful fucking drivers, especially young Asian men, I think it might be against their beliefs to fucking indicate once in a while.

And yes, that is a generalisation, because they all fucking do it where I live.

Your spidey-senses are working then. It's that kind of intuition that keeps you alive half the time. You just get to know which ones to especially look out for after a while.

I got a 2009 Suzuki GSF1250 and might be getting a 2000 ZX6 ex-trackbike as a scratcher / project.

I'm getting a bit bored of the GSF now and thinking of getting either a 'Busa or a 2007 Super Blackbird

You want to PM RB14 off here. He's got a Blackbird. My dad had one too. Cracking bikes. Hayabusas are amazing but ugly as fuck.

I agree the styling is a little strange but I really like 'em - the lump at the back where the pillion seat should be is removable, looks better without that. I also like the ZZR1400 but I don't know about spending that amount of cash on a newish one or whether it would last a few english winters.

My brother's (Paul E Dangerously) housemate has a Super Blackbird I wanna see but everytime I go around he's out. D:

Am trying to draw a first version of a bike for something related to fiction, and had a quick search again. I remembered the Yamaha MT I posted and searched for that......look at this beast. (I think it's a concept bike?)

Just reading this months Classic motorcycle mechanics. There's a bloke doing the same as you and he used a crowd called GP Services. They do all manor of blasting from grit to vapour, meant to be not too bad price wise as well. Sure beats sand paper and elbow grease.

They are based in Leicestershire.

Believe me I would but I live in cornwall and the financial constraints as i'm not working is stopping me from having it sand blasted. The friend of mine who is painting the frame for me has a small sand blaster for doing the little bits the brushes won't get to but would take as long to do the whole frame.

I don't mind that much I find it quiet theraputic and I can think about my next great idea for the bike.

Thanks anyway mate.

am thinking of getting my bike licence but have 6 points which come off in aug 2011. Should I wait until they're gone or will I get hammered on the insurance.

Depends what the points are for. I would do it now and get a smaller bike to start with to get experience and keep your insurance premiums down till your points are gone. Use a price comparison site to see what the difference in cost will be and for different size bikes.
