Interest in Chelsea more than us is understandable.
They are in London, we aren’t.

They were given permission to spend the Bank of England on players, whereas we have to stick to FFP regs.

They are a storied club with a magnificent history and are supported by a massive fan base worldwide, we are a “smallish club somewhere north of the M25”(Bruce Buck - Chelsea Chairman, c2010).

They have a reputation for being stylish and bohemian (Kings Road, Peter Osgood and all that innit?) we are dour, working class and socialist.

Fools, and their money, are easily parted.

I don’t think Todd Boehly will be having the last laugh here.

The FFP thing isn't true.

In light of the Man City scandal, how would the Premier League justify giving Chelsea a free pass?

The asking price for Chelsea might have been less than what we are asking for, but the stadium issue is becoming a massive problem for them. It's estimated to cost between 1 and 2 billion for them to either develope Stamford Bridge or build a new stadium. There's no obvious location for building a new stadium for them either.

Fuck it, at this stage I'd have Jesse Marsche in, and then make it USA FC.

Buy Adams, McKennie, Musah, Weah, Reyna and get Alphonso Davies (Canada is close enough).  We'd sell 100m shirts within a week.

Set up scouting networks in all states.

Bish bash bosh, within 5 seasons we're making more money than Jeff Bezos, and the talent keeps flowing in for free.

Only half tongue in cheek.

Funny things is if we had Adams, McKennie, Musah instead of Nabby,Hendo,Fabinho we would probably be at worst just behind Arsenal in the league

So Qatar is apparently interested in buying the mancs now.

Fucking brilliant........ At least we have safe hands with fsg........

Ha! Now we've gotten to the point where our fans are actually complaining that we're not being turned into the mouthpiece for an evil regime.

The amount of people willing to chuck money at Chelsea but seemingly no one wants to buy us. What the fuck is up with that. Stinks

I think we have to be honest and say that it is less of a draw to pump money into a very depressed area of a largely grey, dull and dark country with no hope of profiting exponentially. This versus the lure of London and it's corruption filled golden pavements through it's financial 'City of London' institution with an easy money path to any part of the globe. Alongside it's easy to grease palms of it's politicians. In short,it's so much easier to wash and hide cash through a London institution than a North West one.

Its all about to implode. City about to be kicked out the league due to the very rich middle Eastern owners not adhering to the rules....whilst a queue of other other very rich Middle Eastern owners are looking to get in.

While Chelsea throw a half a billion around in one window.

Its about to go pop

Yeah but think of the transfers and that short burst of endorphins!!!!

That's got to be factored in when you're weighing up the pro's and cons of murder, homophobia and suppression against buying all the players and three points in a game.

I think it will be fairly easy to spin and suggest any Qatari buy out would be from various business investors with no Government ties.

It wont be true, but it will pretty much be the opening statement- be it us or United.

And for most, that will be enough

I think there's something in this, we're seen as a provincial club in an out of the way part of England. The airport is pretty insignificant in the scheme of things. We've a vociferous fanbase that amongst other things, put a lot of financial noses out of joint when we engaged in the 'internet terrorism' to prevent the 2 cowboys getting new finance on the club. Glad I played my part in that!

Anything is only worth what someone will pay for it. I generally take these valuations of the club with a pinch of salt. Anyone who tries to sell their house or car knows there's a big difference between what you value them at and what someone else wants to pay.

Neither do I thing there's zero interest in buying the club, just that any potential buyers dont agree with the sellers at this point on the seller's valuation.

It's hard to accept chelsea as being a bigger draw than us given our storied history. But I believe the 'London thing' played a huge part in their sale. Was it just a sale at the right time and a mug in Boehly with others spending a huge amount of money, partly to make a statement or, does he really believe the PL brand is undervalued and turning a similarly huge profit would be easy? I dont know.

I think the percentage for growth is a factor and a bit of the 'Hero' status. Geordies will see a League Cup as a delivery from the messiah whereas we would just say it was a poorish season. Owners can get away with a lot more as a result. E.G. City.

Yeah I've said loads of times that it depends on what you want out of your ownership. Buying us or Utd - you'd have the prestige of owning one of the biggest sporting brands on the planet, but you'd also have a high bar of success to clear and the blurring of the line between your success as owner, and the club's success as a historic entity. Buy Liverpool and win the European Cup - as celebrated as it would be, it's just another in the trophy cabinet.

Buying Newcastle or Man City is different. You own a complete nonentity in global terms, but there's no bar of success to clear. Buy Newcastle and win a LC as you say and you'd be seeing statues put up all over the Bigg Market; buy Newcastle and win the European Cup and there's a clear marker being laid down: a 100-year history of failure, and then a glorious era of utter dominance under the invincible House of Saud. And that's what a lot of these autocratic regimes are after: a demonstration of just how unchallengeable they are and how everything they touch turns to success on the enormous western stage of soft power that is football.

Alex miller is credible isn't he?

Allegedly, but this Qatari bid for Utd seems to be coming from Mike Keegan and nobody else seems to have any other information beyond referencing his article (including Miller). Like the Ratcliffe bid that supposedly happened but is still yet to materialise.

On our side he's been banging the Qatar drum for a while but is light on detail.
