It's international week and he needs clicks so he's gone full 1+1=746.

If the price does start hitting 120ml we should walk away. That sort of money could but us 2 or 3 midfielders and completely change the team

The only thing in all this that has remained constant is the price... Between €120-€150m

A better way to look at it is, £300k a week and a £120m transfer fee equates to £39.6m a season over 5 years.... Is he worth £40m a season... He sure is... If he can help win us a League and European Cup, he pretty much pays for himself....

And the way prices are going he could well be worth around £200m by then, so we could recoup the vast majority anyway.

Just from a Moneyball perspective, this signing make complete sense for FSG and how they work.

Forget everything, he will go where the money is, whoever pays him the most.

Wouldn’t you

Not really. After the first million pounds a month, what difference is more money going to make? Things like how happy and how successful you're likely to be are surely going to be more important.

Agree with this.

Anyway the part in bold are also the things deciding how much money you’ll end up making.

Two things in our favour here. One is his friendship with a few Liverpool players through the England set up and two is the chance to work with Klopp. I can hardly see many people at Dortmund talking Klopp down there, can you? It would be like playing for Shanks if he'd left us still in his prime and moved elsewhere.

I'm not sure what the point of this news is from Ornstein's point of view. To do this in the month of March. He knows what he's talking about in general, but this is kind of irrelevant.

Things çan change at any point. And the arguments about whether he should sign with us, especially, can change in the next few months.

From our perspective, I changed my opinion on us signing him because he's a "safe" signing quote unquote, during a time when we're pretty clueless at player recrutiment. It'd be an easy win despite how expensive he'd be because he's just a good player. But frankly, if we went back to using money correctly, not signing him is totally fine. This doesn't make or break the club, despite what the hystericals think.

This explains why you insist on sharing those IndyKaila rumours all the time….

He’s definitely more reputable than that.

Anyways, since a few complained about posting tittle-tattle in the transfer threads (!), I’ve stopped doing it.

I haven’t been as outraged about a speculative media article in ages. Absolutely fuming here.

You haven’t seen the Mason Mount thread, have you?

Who do you think we have wasted money on recently?

It's not necessarily who. Teams often don't buy bad players, they buy wrong players. We've made some odd decisions in the market these past few years and haven't built the squad in a way that's working.
