Former Reds striker Erik Meijer checks in with us to talk about his brief but eventful time at the club between 1999-2000.

Affectionately dubbed "Mad Erik" by the Kop, the big Dutchman relished every second he spent in the Red shirt of the club he followed as a boy. We chat with him about his Anfield career, Gerard Houllier, competing with Fowler, Owen and Heskey and of course that night on the ale with fans in Dortmund.

Love it - especially how he seems to think he needs to choose his favourite songs to play on the podcast.

Yeah that was a bit mad like. When I initially asked him to do it he replied "I'm ready!!" and then "Beatles/U2/Dire Straights / Foo Fighters and and..."

I figured he meant to send that message to someone else, but having heard the interview it now seems like he thought that a podcast entailed picking his five favourite songs or something!

I love him, the mad bastard.
