I've been to a few AGMs recently with work & it's fair to say that the big companies are fucking shitting their pants about us leaving the EU.

What a mess.

Small Business Federation also today issued a statement to the effect that they're cacking their pants.

So did the universities.

Farmers have got good reason to worry, too.

Share price dropped by about 10% and that makes us all jumpy as most staff are shareholders. Brexit and a price cap could finish us off.

The prices British gas and some other likewise companies charge for services that may not necessarily be a bad thing.

Once reality kicks in they'll be wondering wtf they have done, they voted on impulse, pure and simple.

I think the reality of food banks, squalid housing, zero hour contracts and a piss poor health service kicked in for the people of the North East a long time ago.

And who in your opinion is responsible for that?

Well you're entitled to your opinion but I'm sure the government would love 20k redundancies and the loss of the tax revenue.

Although I see you set the bar for Brexit success that low.

European Council President Donald Tusk says agreement on "people, money and Ireland" must come before negotiations on the European Union's future relationship with the UK.

Mr Tusk's message came in a letter to 27 other EU leaders - not the UK.

He will chair a summit of the 27 in Brussels on Saturday to try to adopt a joint negotiating position on Brexit.

The UK government has said it does not want to delay talks on future trade relations.

The EU issued draft guidelines on Brexit on 31 March.

Official talks will not begin until after the UK general election on 8 June.

Mr Tusk's letter - calling for a "phased" approach to Brexit - echoed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's priorities, which she set out on Thursday.

"Before discussing our future, we must first sort out our past," he said, listing three priorities:

  • On EU citizens living in the UK, he called for "effective, enforceable, non-discriminatory and comprehensive" guarantees
  • The UK must fulfil all its financial obligations agreed as an EU member state
  • A deal must be reached "to avoid a hard border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland"

"We will not discuss our future relations with the UK until we have achieved sufficient progress on the main issues relating to the UK's withdrawal from the EU," he said.

EU officials estimate that the UK faces a bill of €60bn (£51bn; $65bn) because of EU budget rules. UK politicians have said the government will not pay a sum of that size.

Reports say Irish Prime Minister (Taoiseach) Enda Kenny will also ask his EU partners to back the idea of Northern Ireland automatically joining the EU if the province's people vote to unite with the Republic.

The UK Brexit Secretary, David Davis, has said that in the event of such a vote, Northern Ireland could become "part of an existing EU member state".

Surprisingly the old colonies are a bit hacked off with all the Empire 2.0 nonsense coming from Whitehall.

The UK, especially the English seem to forget about all the shit they pulled off whilst colonising half of the World at the time. These countries sought independence and fought for it for a reason. Now May and her ilk think they are going to bend over and offer trade deals for little to nothing, the arrogance and stupidity of it all is breath taking. It's not going to end well, the UK can't just do what they did all those years ago by using force to rape countries of their wealth. The Empire strikes back strategy is not going to work unless the UK meet the cost for trade, a cost that could quite honestly end up being a shit load higher than what the silly fuckers were paying.

Tories are really scraping the barrel now. Chairman May got arsy with Junker this week over having a trade negotiation running parallel and he gave it her back in spades. Merkel backed it up the following day so its all going very badly for the government . Who would have thought this fucking shower of shit would be finding it so hard to make new friends, Ah well we will always have Saudi Arabia who don't seem mind if their friends smell of hypocrisy

Tony Parsons is a long way from his punk rock roots, the massive twat.

@TonyParsonsUK: If not for the blood sacrifice of the British, Juncker would be speaking German today. Show some respect, you puffed-up political pygmy.

Juncker is, of course, from Luxembourg and speaks fluent German, French, English and Luxembourgish.

Mr Juncker: 'I leave Downing Street 10 times more sceptical than before' Reuters

The seemingly disastrous meeting between Theresa May and  Jean-Claude Juncker has been laid bare in a report that reveals the European Commission President told her: “I leave Downing Street 10 times more sceptical than I was before."

The UK Government described the meeting on Wednesday as “constructive”, saying the pair discussed other international issues in a “useful working dinner”.

Yet a very different account emerged in the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper's report.

Angela Merkel says Britain under 'illusion' it can keep EU benefits

According to the paper, EU officials and Mr Juncker were surprised that Ms May did not appear to be fully briefed for the meeting, claiming she had unrealistic expectations about the length and process of negotiations.

The PM reportedly insisted on discussing other world problems as well as Brexit and refused to accept that the UK owed the EU billions of euros, saying there was no such demand in EU treaties.

She was told in response that the EU was “not a golf club”.

If the UK did not pay, said Mr Juncker, there would be no trade deal.

I hope Britain will rejoin EU after Brexit, European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker says

According to the report, Ms May told EU officials she expected to be elected Prime Minister next month and wanted to “make Brexit a success".

She was told that would not be possible, because the UK would become worse off in the future as a “third country” - a country outside of the EU and the customs union.

Ms May also informed the officials she wanted to clarify the rights of UK citizens in Europe at the EU Council meeting in June – an idea dismissed by Mr Juncker, given the complex nature of associated issues like healthcare.

She also stated she wanted UK citizens to be treated no differently from other third-country nationals.

The PM then said she wanted to deal with Brexit talks in four-day blocks every month, and keep discussions confidential.

But Mr Juncker reportedly pulled two piles of paper from his bag: Croatia’s EU entry deal and Canada’s free trade deal, highlighting how complex these talks would be.

The morning after the meeting, Mr Juncker called German Chancellor Angela Merkel and reportedly said Ms May “lived in another galaxy” and was “deluding herself”.

It prompted Ms Merkel to quickly amend a passage in her speech to the EU’s Brexit summit, a speech that would be described as her toughest yet.

“I have to put it in such clear terms because unfortunately I have the feeling that some in Britain still have illusions,” she said.

“But that would be a waste of time.”

Merkel derails May's plan for Brexit by rejecting parallel trade talks

She declared the EU would put its own interests first and it would choose how to handle the negotiations. This meant talking about their new relationship first, followed by financial matters, in reverse order to the wishes of Ms May.

A statement issued from the European People’s Party echoed this sentiment, saying citizens of the 27 EU member states “will always come first”.

“While we aim at maintaining good relations with the UK, the decision of the British people has set an irreversible course,” it read.

t that the Brexit process be conducted in an orderly way: there will be no talks on future relations until these exit talks are concluded.

"In this regard, the EPP fully trusts and stands behind EU Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier in his efforts to successfully negotiate on behalf of the EU."

Chancellor Merkel also urged the 27 remaining member states’ to speak with “one voice” with the UK when talks start in June.

While the EU side speculated that Ms May was causing frustration to break up the talks and win a dominant role in the negotiations, Ms May responded that the EU states were conspiring against the UK and she noted that the talks were going to be “tough”.

Theresa May accuses remaining 27 EU members of ‘lining up to oppose’ Britain over Brexit

The negotiations are set to take two years.

More serious negotiations are unlikely to take shape until after the German elections in September.

No one invaded Ireland.

Once upon a time Ireland had a royal family that royal family were married into the British royal family that is why Ireland was once part of the uk.

You're not serious, are you? No one could be that monumentally retarded.

Typical Brexit gobshite....

An aristocrat has appeared in court charged with writing menacing Facebook posts about the Brexit campaigner Gina Miller and a Cameroonian man.

Rhodri Philipps, the 4th Viscount St Davids, wore a tweed gilet over a navy suit as he appeared at Westminster magistrates court and refused to stand in the dock when addressed as Mr St Davids, only rising when addressed as Lord St Davids.

Philipps pleaded not guilty to three charges of sending malicious communications under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.

One of the charges related to a Facebook post written on 7 November last year about Miller, who successfully challenged the government over its plan to give notice to leave the EU without an act of parliament. Philipps allegedly wrote: “£5,000 to the first person to ‘accidentally’ run over this bloody troublesome first-generation immigrant … If this is what we should expect from immigrants, send them back to their stinking jungles.”

The prosecutor, Kate Mulholland, said the crown would seek enhanced sentences because the posts were racially aggravated.

Philipps spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address and to plead not guilty. He laughed and mouthed “wanker” when deputy senior district judge Tan Ikram prohibited him from contacting Matthew Steeples, who first reported the post to police, as a condition of granting him bail. He is also prevented from contacting Miller.

The trial will be held at Westminster magistrates court on 10 July and is expected to last a day.
