Be just our luck that they blob in group stages and we could have had him back by this weekend - but instead he is fucked for a month!

 

Although of course them going out tonight would end any silly arguments over coming couple of weeks or so about him going back out there/playing for them.

Mohamed Salah will return to the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday to begin an intensive rehabilitation programme with Liverpool’s medical team on the muscle injury he sustained with Egypt last week.

 

The injury, which is worse than first feared, forced the forward from the field in the first half of the Africa Cup of Nations fixture with Ghana and an agreement has been reached with the Egyptian FA for Salah to undergo treatment in Liverpool.

 

Salah will immediately begin work with the club’s medical staff upon his return to Merseyside with a view to being back in action as soon as possible for club and country, giving him the best chance to return to compete at AFCON if Egypt, who qualified for the knockout stage with a 2-2 draw against Cape Verde tonight, continue to advance in the tournament.

It is as likely, maybe moreso knowing how we have handled injuries, that he misses both.

With the  absolute quickest recovery and nothing going wrong he may make Brentford - regardless of Egypt.

 

The worry would be if he is close and it is a judgement call who makes it - their docs, our docs, Salah?

Egypt's coach Rui Vitoria can fuck off trying to blame Jurgen and Liverpool for Mo's injury. The insinuation seems to be that we already knew Mo was carrying an injury before he joined up with his national team this month. Vitoria picked Mo to play, also in pre-tournament friendlies, and there wasn't an issue then. Also, he thinks Mo should stay with the Egyptian squad and have a member of Liverpool's medical team out there to assist with his treatment. Does the dickhead not realise we have our own fixture schedule, or that it makes no sense to compromise our medical staff just to assist one player who is unlikely to be fit to play for his country anyway?

I've seen some Islamic fundamentalist bellends on Twitter saying that his injury is a punishment for allowing his name to be shortened to Mo and for celebrating Christmas.

 

He should just tell them that he prayed hard and made a miraculous recovery.
